The Simpsons is not canceled: FOX announced a four-season renewal on April 2, 2025, and its 2026–27 schedule lists Season 38. Those announcements confirm more episodes are planned, but they do not guarantee the series will never end.
Is The Simpsons canceled?
No. FOX announced an early four-season renewal order for The Simpsons on April 2, 2025, alongside Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers. FOX’s announcement describes the order as a commitment to continue the series, not an assurance against any future cancellation.

Marci Proietto, head of 20th Television Animation, called it “This historic four-season order from our longtime partners at FOX” and said it was “truly monumental for these iconic animated series.” The quotation reflects the significance of the renewal; it does not promise indefinite production.
How many more seasons are coming?
The four-season order is FOX’s stated renewal commitment. Separately, FOX’s later 2026–27 schedule lists The Simpsons as returning for Season 38. The schedule confirms that season is on the network’s plans, but the available announcements do not specify a fixed episode total or an exact final season or end date.

These milestones mark continued production, not immunity from cancellation.
What happened with Seasons 35 and 36?
Season 36 is not an upcoming renewal: FOX included it in its 2024–25 slate and scheduled its premiere for September 29, 2024. The season premiere’s announced premise centered on Bart’s birthday celebration. FOX later said Season 36 episodes would return on March 30, 2025.
Those are historical schedule details. The current forward-looking confirmation in the cited FOX schedule is Season 38; the renewal announcement does not turn the old Season 36 dates into future air dates.

In its renewal announcement, FOX identified Disney+ and Hulu as the exclusive global streaming homes for the four animated series named in the release.
