The Yellowstone prequel in question is 1883, but the available evidence does not confirm that it is currently surging on Netflix—or even establish that it is available there in any particular country. Paramount identifies the one-season drama as a Yellowstone origin story and lists Paramount+ as its exclusive streaming destination. Check your local catalogs before choosing a service.
Which Yellowstone prequel is the headline about?
It is 1883. Paramount describes the 2021 drama as a Yellowstone origin story about the Dutton family’s journey west across the Great Plains in search of a better future. The official listing identifies one season and a TV-MA rating. Paramount+’s series listing credits Taylor Sheridan and features Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Isabel May, Sam Elliott, and LaMonica Garrett.
Paramount Press Express’s series page also identifies 1883 as a Sheridan-created prequel to Yellowstone. It says the first two episodes streamed on Paramount+ on December 19, 2021, and lists McGraw as James Dutton, Hill as Margaret Dutton, May as Elsa Dutton, Elliott as Shea Brennan, and Garrett as Thomas.
Is 1883 really surging on Netflix?
The available Netflix material does not substantiate that claim. Netflix Tudum’s official trending page and its October 2, 2026 viewing guide do not identify 1883 as trending or provide a chart position or viewing-hours figure. Those pages do not establish that the show is absent from every regional Netflix catalog; they simply do not verify a Netflix surge or availability.

Without a current, territory-specific Netflix listing or a dated chart from a named source, there is no verified basis here for saying that 1883 is climbing Netflix’s rankings. Treat the headline’s platform and popularity claim as unconfirmed, rather than as evidence of a chart result.
Where can you watch 1883?
Paramount’s official listing says 1883 streams exclusively on Paramount+. That is the studio’s stated destination, not confirmation of access in every country or of current subscription prices. Availability can vary by territory, so check the service’s local listing before subscribing.
