Yes. Paramount+ listed Russell Crowe’s 2024 noir thriller Sleeping Dogs among its October 1, 2026 movie arrivals. That is a dated lineup listing, not a guarantee the film remains available or streams in every country. The film has a split reception snapshot: Rotten Tomatoes showed 44% from critics and 79% from audience ratings when checked on October 8, 2026.
What is Sleeping Dogs about?
Russell Crowe plays Roy Freeman, a former homicide detective whose memory is fractured. He revisits a murder case from a decade earlier, in which a man is on death row, and tries to reconstruct what happened. The investigation’s uncertainties make memory and the reliability of evidence central to the mystery.

Adam Cooper directed the film and co-wrote it with Bill Collage. The cast also includes Karen Gillan, Márton Csókás, Thomas M. Wright, Harry Greenwood, and Tommy Flanagan. Paramount’s consumer-facing film page lists a March 22, 2024 release, an R rating, thriller/drama genres, and a 111-minute runtime. Paramount Global Content gives a different runtime of 120 minutes, so the length depends on which Paramount listing is consulted.
Is Sleeping Dogs on Paramount+?
Paramount+’s October 2026 programming article, published September 24, lists Sleeping Dogs in its movie arrivals for October 1. Rotten Tomatoes also listed Paramount+ as a streaming option when checked October 8, 2026. Streaming catalogs change by date and territory, so check the Paramount+ app or website in your country for current availability. The October lineup is not evidence of permanent or worldwide access.

Why are reviews of Sleeping Dogs so mixed?
At the October 8, 2026 retrieval, Rotten Tomatoes displayed a 44% Tomatometer based on 41 critic reviews and a 79% Popcornmeter based on 500+ audience ratings. These are changing aggregator snapshots, not fixed quality scores or proof that all critics or viewers agree.
The responses point to different expectations for the film. Sandra Hall of the Sydney Morning Herald praised its relationship to noir tradition and Crowe’s fallible detective. Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian called its plotting over-the-top and dreamlike, while finding it enjoyably dramatized. Trace Sauveur of Loud and Clear Reviews criticized its writing and familiarity. The contrast helps explain the gap: viewers drawn to a pulpy, twist-heavy crime mystery may respond differently from critics who find its writing or plot less convincing.

Is Sleeping Dogs worth watching?
It is a better fit if you enjoy noir crime mysteries built around an unreliable memory and are willing to follow a potentially convoluted investigation. Crowe’s detective is not presented as an infallible guide; the story asks viewers to reconsider what he remembers as the case develops.
If you want a tightly restrained procedural or a mystery whose twists feel entirely plausible, the divided critical response is a reason to temper expectations. The higher audience snapshot suggests the film may work better for some viewers than the critics’ aggregate indicates, but neither percentage predicts an individual reaction.

Is Sleeping Dogs based on a book?
Yes. French film reference site AlloCiné identifies it as an adaptation of Eugen Ovidiu Chirovici’s bestseller Jeux de miroirs. The available information here does not establish the title or availability of an English-language edition, so confirm the edition before looking for the novel in a particular market. The film can be followed on its own; reading the book is not a prerequisite.
