Restream can schedule a finite pre-recorded YouTube broadcast lasting up to 40 hours, so a 24-hour event is within its documented limits. That does not establish that Restream will keep a channel live indefinitely or guarantee uninterrupted delivery to YouTube. Its video loop is capped, playlists do not loop, and YouTube archives only streams under 12 hours. For continuous coverage, treat Restream as a way to schedule finite events—not as a verified always-on service.
What “24/7” means in Restream
There are two different requirements hidden in “24/7”: broadcasting a single event that lasts 24 hours, and keeping a channel continuously live without a defined end. Restream documents support for the first under specific limits; the available documentation does not establish the second.
A finite 24-hour event is within the stated limit
Restream says a pre-recorded video can be looped for up to 40 hours and specifically lists streaming for 24 hours as a use case for online radio stations and DJs. A 24-hour broadcast is therefore within that stated ceiling if the source file and selected repetitions fit the maximum. The video can be set to start at its scheduled time even when you are offline. This describes a finite event, not automatic, endless recurrence. Restream’s looping guide and pre-recorded event guide explain the limits and setup.
Looping and playlists still end
A video loop can repeat up to 10 times, within the maximum 40-hour looped-stream duration. Playlists do not loop. Restream says you can repeat entries to make a longer finite playlist, up to 40 videos total, but this is not a self-restarting playlist. The documented workflow does not establish an automatic handoff that keeps the channel live after an event ends.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What Restream’s reliability evidence does—and does not—show
Restream’s public status page displayed 99.98% uptime for Studio when checked in 2026. That is a point-in-time figure for Studio, not a measured uptime rate for scheduled prerecorded broadcasts delivered end-to-end to YouTube. It is not an availability guarantee for this use case. You can check the current Restream status page, but a current status indicator cannot predict whether a future event will stay live.
Restream’s Terms of Service allow scheduled maintenance and unscheduled interruptions, and disclaim that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. The documents therefore support describing Restream as a workable option for scheduled, finite broadcasts, but not promising uninterrupted 24/7 channel operation.

Check whether the workflow fits your channel
- Coverage: If one event of up to 40 hours meets your need, the documented loop may fit. If you need uninterrupted output indefinitely, plan for event endings and the possibility of a gap; automatic continuous handoff is not established.
- Replay archive: Restream’s YouTube guide says YouTube archives only streams under 12 hours. A 24-hour event may run, but do not assume YouTube will preserve it as one complete archive. If retaining a full replay matters, arrange another recording or archive workflow and test it before relying on the broadcast. Restream’s YouTube guide covers the archive limit.
- Account readiness: Restream says the connected YouTube channel must be owned by the account holder and have live streaming enabled. For a first stream, its guide says phone verification is required and YouTube requires a 24-hour wait after enabling live streaming. Check the channel’s live-streaming status well before scheduling.
- Plan and storage: Looping is available on Restream’s Marathon and Media add-on plans. Storage, video-library duration, and maximum resolution vary by plan, so confirm the current entitlement and file limits for your account before scheduling. Restream also cautions that its cloud storage is not a replacement for a hard drive or other backup; keep an original copy of every music and video asset. See Restream’s storage guide.
Prepare and test the prerecorded music stream
Use a compatible file
Restream lists MP4, MOV, M4V, and MKV containers; H.264 video; and AAC audio. Keyframe interval 2 is mandatory, and Restream recommends 1080p. Its prerecorded-video requirements include the supported formats and encoding guidance.
Schedule a test before the long event
- Confirm the destination: Connect the intended YouTube channel and verify that it is owned by the account holder and enabled for live streaming. Complete verification and any required waiting period before launch.
- Check the exact file and plan: Confirm the file meets Restream’s format, codec, and keyframe requirements; verify its duration, resolution, storage use, and looping entitlement against the current plan.
- Set the event length deliberately: Choose the video and repeat count so the planned event does not exceed the 40-hour loop ceiling. Do not rely on a playlist to repeat automatically; if using one, account for the 40-video maximum and finite end.
- Allow processing time: Restream recommends adding 15–20 seconds at the beginning and end of a prerecorded video so destination platforms have time to process the incoming stream.
- Run a short test to YouTube: Use the same file type, destination, and event settings you intend to use. Confirm that the stream starts, video and audio play as expected, and YouTube displays the live event correctly. This is a precautionary check, not a substitute for a guarantee of future uptime.
- Make an archive plan: Decide in advance how you will preserve the complete program if a YouTube archive is needed, since YouTube’s stated archive limit is under 12 hours.
Restream’s Upload & Stream overview describes its prerecorded workflow. Confirm current interface labels and plan details in your account, as feature entitlements can change.
