The figure appears in a report attributed to The Sun and based on unnamed sources, but the linked report could not be independently checked here, and Netflix’s official pages reviewed do not announce such a deal.
Where did the £10 million documentary claim come from?
A Boxing Wire search result dated October 3, 2026 said The Sun had reported that Joshua signed a deal with Netflix for a four-part series about his life and boxing career, reportedly expected in spring 2027. The same result said the story relied on unnamed sources and that neither Netflix nor Joshua had announced the project. The Boxing Wire page could not be retrieved for verification, and the underlying Sun report was not available in the search results. Those details—including the fee, format and timing—should therefore be treated as unverified reporting, not established terms of a Netflix deal. Boxing Wire
What does Netflix officially say about Joshua?
Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen
Netflix’s Media Center lists Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen, a documentary series about Barry and Eddie Hearn’s promotion business. Joshua is among the featured appearances, but the stated subject is the Hearns and Matchroom—not a documentary centered on Joshua. The listing does not confirm a payment to him. Netflix Media Center: Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen
The Fury–Joshua fight
Netflix’s official coverage of the Tyson Fury–Anthony Joshua bout concerns live boxing programming, not the alleged documentary. Netflix Tudum quoted sports vice president Gabe Spitzer describing the fight as “a fight years in the making between two of boxing’s biggest stars.” That statement is about the event, not a documentary fee. Why is another £10 million figure being mentioned?
A separate story may be causing confusion. The Independent reported on October 1, 2026, that promoter Eddie Hearn said Joshua had agreed to give up more than £10 million in earnings to keep the Fury fight in the UK. Hearn was quoted saying, “To keep it in the UK he’s got to turn down eight figures plus.” This concerns a reported reduction in fight earnings, not money paid by Netflix for a documentary. What is confirmed, and what is not?
| Claim or project | What the cited source establishes | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Netflix documentary payment of £10 million | Boxing Wire’s October 3, 2026 search-result text attributes the story to The Sun and unnamed sources; the underlying report was not available for independent checking. | Unconfirmed |
| Four-part Joshua documentary, expected in spring 2027 | These details appear in the same second-hand report, not in the Netflix listings reviewed. | Unconfirmed |
| Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen | Netflix describes a series about Barry and Eddie Hearn’s promotion business and lists Joshua among featured appearances. | Officially listed; not described as a Joshua-centered documentary |
| Fury–Joshua live event | Netflix’s official pages cover the fight as live programming. | Separate from the documentary claim |
| More than £10 million in fight earnings | The Independent attributes the figure to Hearn’s account of Joshua accepting a reduction to keep the fight in the UK. | Separate reported fight-purse issue |
What would confirm the documentary deal?
The payment should not be treated as confirmed unless Netflix, Joshua, or an authorized representative announces the project or provides verifiable details. The Netflix pages currently cited establish other Joshua-related content, but not the alleged documentary or its fee.
