The shows take different approaches to crime: The Gentlemen mixes gangster drama with satire and absurdist humor, while MobLand centers on a fractured crime family and threats to its power.
Which shows does the headline mean?
The likely comparison is between MobLand, Guy Ritchie’s newer TV crime drama, and the Netflix series The Gentlemen. That is a well-supported reading of the headline, not a confirmed explanation from its publisher. The two shows are separate stories, and MobLand is not a sequel to or spin-off of The Gentlemen.

What is MobLand about?
MobLand follows Harry Da Souza, a fixer working for the Harrigan family. Paramount+ describes Season 2 as a struggle for the family to present a united front as rivals threaten its criminal empire, with Harry caught in the escalating tensions. The returning principal cast includes Tom Hardy as Harry, Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan, and Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan. [Paramount+ series page; Paramount+ Season 2 guide]
Ritchie is an executive producer, not the show’s creator: Paramount+ identifies Ronan Bennett as creator. The Associated Press has described MobLand as gritty, but the available material does not establish a comparable count or measure of violence against The Gentlemen.

What is The Gentlemen about?
Netflix describes its series as a crime comedy created by Guy Ritchie. Aristocrat Eddie inherits a cannabis empire and becomes involved with a criminal dynasty. Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, and Daniel Ings are among the listed stars. [Netflix]
The Associated Press characterizes the show as a blend of thriller, satire, gangster caper, soap opera, and absurdist humor. It is a spin-off of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name; the film and the Netflix series are distinct from MobLand. AP reports that the series’ first season has eight episodes. [Associated Press]
Is MobLand darker than The Gentlemen?
It may feel darker to viewers looking for sustained family conflict and pressure around an established criminal operation. MobLand’s Season 2 premise is about fractures inside the Harrigans and threats from rivals. The Gentlemen also deals with organized crime, but its crime-thriller setup is deliberately mixed with satire, caper elements, and absurd humor. That difference in emphasis can make the Netflix series feel lighter; it does not mean it is a children’s show.
There is no basis here for an objective violence ranking. The “kids’ show” phrase is a colorful way to describe a perceived difference in tone, not a formal classification. Paramount+ lists MobLand as TV-MA. Ratings for The Gentlemen can vary by market, so check the rating shown in your local Netflix listing rather than treating one region’s label as universal. No connection between the two TV series is established in the cited official descriptions. They share Guy Ritchie’s involvement, but in different roles: Netflix names him creator of The Gentlemen, while Paramount+ names him executive producer of MobLand and Ronan Bennett its creator. The 2019 The Gentlemen film is the source of the Netflix series’ spin-off relationship; it is not a link to MobLand.
