Capcom has expressed interest in making another Marvel vs. Capcom, but there is no confirmation here of a sequel being approved, in development, or scheduled. The strongest public signal is a September 2024 interview in which producer Shuhei Matsumoto said his team wanted another installment and stressed that a new project would require Marvel’s involvement. For now, fans can revisit the series through MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a compilation of seven older arcade games—not a new entry.
Is Capcom making a new Marvel vs. Capcom?
In a September 2024 interview with ComicBook.com, Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto said, “At least our team and I have the desire to release” a new installment. He also said the project “can’t be realized by Capcom alone.”
That is a statement of interest, not a greenlight. Matsumoto did not announce a sequel, confirm that development had begun, give a release window, or describe an agreement to make a new game. His comments make a revival plausible as an ambition, but they do not establish that one is happening.
Matsumoto said fan support mattered more than commercial achievement alone. He did not name a sales target or say that purchases of the collection would determine whether a sequel gets made. Buying or playing the older games can demonstrate interest, but it cannot guarantee a new title.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why Marvel’s involvement matters
The series brings together characters and rights controlled by two companies, and Matsumoto explicitly said Capcom could not realize a new project by itself. Capcom and Marvel did work together on the collection: Matsumoto said they were “ecstatic” to bring the games to current platforms and that the feeling was mutual in talks with Marvel. That collaboration is evidence of cooperation on the re-release, not confirmation of a deal for a sequel.
There is historical precedent for Marvel’s participation in the games. In Capcom’s account of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Marvel provided feedback on gameplay, the user interface, cinematics, and character presentation. That describes the earlier game’s development; it does not reveal the terms or likelihood of any future partnership.

The evidence supports a measured conclusion: a Capcom producer has publicly voiced interest in another game, and Capcom has recently worked with Marvel to re-release the older titles. It does not establish a sequel announcement, production status, sales threshold, or release date. The collection gives fans a current way to revisit the series, while any new installment remains unconfirmed.
