At a DC Studios press event in February 2025, a reporter asked Gunn whether DC might have its own version of Marvel Rivals. So the accurate answer to “Did James Gunn confirm a DC hero shooter?” is no. He welcomed the idea, but his comment is not evidence of a development commitment.
Has DC announced a Marvel Rivals-style game?
The sources reviewed do not confirm that a DC counterpart has been announced. DC’s official July 8, 2026 Comic-Con lineup mentions LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, including its platforms and related content, but not a Marvel Rivals-style game. That event lineup is not a complete inventory of Warner Bros. Games projects, so its silence cannot establish whether an undisclosed project exists.

As of that announcement, the careful distinction is between Gunn’s openness and a confirmed game. Whether DC Studios or Warner Bros. Games has an unannounced project of this kind remains unresolved.
What would “like Marvel Rivals” mean?
Marvel Rivals is described by Marvel Games and NetEase Games as a team-based player-versus-player shooter featuring 6v6 action. Their March 27, 2024 announcement establishes a useful high-level comparison point, not a blueprint for a hypothetical DC game.

Pocket Tactics reported on those discussions in its February 25, 2025 account. Pop Culture News also reproduced comments from Safran about meeting with studio leaders, including NetherRealm and Rocksteady, and discussing characters and stories, as well as Gunn’s description of reviewing early designs and story ideas. That February 24, 2025 report concerns collaboration in general, not a specific hero shooter.
