Why Creature Commandos is James Gunn’s first DCU project
Creature Commandos is an animated DC series about incarcerated monsters recruited for missions too dangerous for humans. James Gunn wrote and executive produced it, and DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation produced the series. DC describes its genres as action and adventure.
Official launch materials identify it as the first title of the new DC Universe (DCU) and place it in Chapter One, “Gods and Monsters.” DC’s January 2023 slate announcement also described it as the first series Gunn was making for DC Studios.
