Iris Hsieh Yu-Hsin was found dead in a Kuala Lumpur hotel bathtub on October 22, 2025. Malaysian police later reclassified the case as a murder investigation, but the reporting available here does not establish an official cause of death or prove that anyone caused it. Namewee was connected to the investigation through his reported work with Hsieh and his place in the timeline; Malaysia’s Attorney-General said in November 2025 that there was then no evidence showing he caused her death.

Police initially classified the death as sudden death. Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said the case was reclassified as a murder investigation under Section 302 on November 4, according to Bernama and CNA. That is an investigative classification, not a finding that a particular person committed murder.
Has the cause of death been established?
No official cause of death is established in the reporting cited here. Bernama’s December 13, 2025 report said post-mortem and toxicology findings were still awaited; CNA’s reporting also described those results as pending. The available reports do not confirm a heart attack, overdose, or another specific medical cause, so such claims should not be treated as fact.

Those details explain his connection to the case; they do not establish responsibility for Hsieh’s death.

On November 13, 2025, CNA reported that Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar said there was then no evidence showing Namewee caused Hsieh’s death and that further investigation had been ordered. That was a dated assessment of the evidence at that point, not a final adjudication.
In separate November reporting, Namewee was also facing drug-use and possession allegations, which he denied. Those allegations are distinct from the investigation into Hsieh’s death and do not establish its cause.

CNA described Hsieh as a Taiwanese influencer and former nurse, known to fans as “Nurse Goddess.” Her reported age is inconsistent: CNA identified her as 31, while Bernama identified her as 33. The sources do not resolve that discrepancy, so neither figure should be presented as settled.
CNA reported in November 2025 that Hsieh had about 545,000 Instagram followers and 349,000 Facebook followers. These are dated reported counts, not current figures.
