IPIC said it planned to permanently close its theater at Redmond Town Center in Redmond, Washington, on April 28, 2026. GeekWire reported that the WARN notice filed with state regulators affected 64 employees. The plan came as IPIC Theaters, LLC, was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
What was announced for the Redmond theater?
GeekWire reported on March 3, 2026, that IPIC planned to cease operations at its Redmond Town Center theater on April 28. The notice reportedly affected 64 employees, and IPIC notified state officials on February 23 that operations at the site would end “due to business circumstances.” Redmond is east of Seattle; the theater is not within Seattle city limits. GeekWire’s report attributes the employee figure and notice details to the state WARN filing.

The evidence establishes a planned closure date, not independent confirmation that the theater stopped operating on April 28. It also does not establish what happened to the property afterward.
How does the closure fit into IPIC’s bankruptcy?
IPIC Theaters, LLC, filed for Chapter 11 on February 25, 2026, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida, case 26-12313. The case page lists that petition date.

In a sale-process motion filed April 21, the debtor said it was operating at a cash-flow loss and lacked enough cash to maintain all existing theater operations much longer. It argued that an expedited sale of substantially all assets was needed to preserve the business as a going concern and maintain continuity at theaters. Those are the debtor’s claims in a court filing, not independent financial findings or a court ruling. The April 21 motion also says the debtor had issued WARN notices with 60- or 90-day advance periods and identifies April 28 as the separation date for notices with a 60-day period.
IPIC’s initial bankruptcy filing described 13 leased theater premises, most in mixed-use retail, entertainment, and lifestyle developments. That is a snapshot of the company’s footprint at filing; it does not determine whether any particular theater continued operating, was sold, or later closed. The initial filing provides that description.

What does Washington’s WARN guidance say?
Washington’s Employment Security Department says its Mass Layoffs and Business Closings law can apply when a closure affects at least 50 full-time employees at one worksite. Covered employers must provide written notice 60 days in advance to the state agency, affected employees, and the local chief elected official. The guidance explains the general rule; it does not by itself resolve any individual worker’s rights or verify every detail of IPIC’s notice.
