What happens in “Tiny Town”?
A video art installation called “The Iris” links Manhattan with Angus’s town across the Atlantic. Through it, Angus witnesses a murder in New York and joins Elsbeth to help investigate. The portal is a fictional device in the episode, not a real technology or location.
The unusual screen-based introduction suits the show’s offbeat setup. Carrie Preston, who plays Elsbeth, described the meeting as “In the wonderful fashion of our show, they do it in such an unconventional way with this portal screen, with this person that she meets who is thousands of miles away in another country, in another time zone, and in another type of life.” The quote appeared in a February 11, 2025 TV Insider/Swooon interview.
