Intramovies is handling world sales for Agostino Ferrente’s new documentary Selfie – The Possible Lives, according to Filmitalia, which records the film under its original title, Le vite possibili. The documentary is built from previously unseen footage recovered from deletion and revisits the people and world of Ferrente’s 2019 film Selfie without simply re-releasing or repeating it.

What is Selfie – The Possible Lives?

Selfie – The Possible Lives is a new documentary by Italian filmmaker Agostino Ferrente, connected to his 2019 documentary Selfie. Filmitalia describes it as “The other side of the multi-award-winning documentary Selfie by Agostino Ferrente.” The catalog says the film was made by recovering previously unseen images that had been discarded and were at risk of deletion, rather than by shooting new material. Filmitalia’s record calls it complementary to Selfie while also autonomous: viewers do not need to treat it as a mere extension of the earlier film.

The recovered footage keeps Alessandro and Pietro’s everyday lives as a narrative thread, while also bringing in other stories and characters. Filmitalia’s description includes young people drawn toward crime as well as others trying to find alternative paths. The film’s construction therefore expands on the earlier documentary’s world through material that did not appear in the released film.

Why is Intramovies attached?

Filmitalia names Intramovies as the film’s world sales representative. That is an international sales credit; it should not be confused with a domestic distributor or a streaming service. A separate 2026 Alice nella Città program report lists the film as Selfie – Lato B and names ZALAB as its Italian distributor. These are distinct credits from separate records, not conflicting descriptions of Intramovies’ role. The 2026 program report also identifies it as an Italian-Swiss documentary by Ferrente and lists a world premiere.

How does it relate to the 2019 film Selfie?

The earlier Selfie followed Alessandro and Pietro, two 16-year-old best friends in Naples’s Traiano neighborhood, as they filmed daily life using smartphones in selfie mode. Film at Lincoln Center’s 2019 presentation describes its focus on adolescence, friendship, economic precarity and the danger of Camorra activity around them. RaiPlay’s synopsis notes that the boys record their everyday experiences, their friendship and their neighborhood, where the 2014 death of their peer Davide had a lasting presence. RaiPlay also reports that the film won the 2020 David di Donatello for Best Documentary.

The distinction is one of both material and method: the 2019 film’s central device was the boys’ phone-recorded perspective, while the new documentary is assembled from rescued footage not used before. The new film follows the same central figures but also includes other people and stories, and Filmitalia explicitly describes it as capable of standing on its own.

What is known about the film’s status and runtime?

Filmitalia’s record lists Le vite possibili as 83 minutes and labels its status “In post-production (22/07/2026).” The Alice nella Città report provides a world-premiere context, but neither record establishes a general release date or current viewing availability. The runtime listings for the earlier Selfie vary by source and version, so they are not directly interchangeable:

Film and source Listed runtime Record context
Le vite possibili / Selfie – The Possible Lives, Filmitalia 83 minutes Filmitalia record; post-production status dated 22 July 2026
Selfie, Film at Lincoln Center 76 minutes 2019 Open Roads presentation; Italian with English subtitles
Selfie, CGTV 78 minutes Current digital catalog entry
Selfie, Filmitalia Italian entry 78 minutes Catalog listing for the earlier film

Filmitalia lists Italy and Switzerland as the new film’s countries of attribution. Its record credits Ferrente as director and screenwriter, and lists Alessandro Antonelli and Pietro Orlando in the cast. The production companies named are Casa delle visioni, Pirata Manifatture Cinematografiche, Luce Cinecittà, Anemone Film, Rai Cinema, Magneto and Dschoint Ventschr.

Which title should viewers look for?

Filmitalia records the original title as Le vite possibili, while the Alice nella Città program report uses Selfie – Lato B. The English title used here, Selfie – The Possible Lives, reflects the supplied title framing; the varying records mean readers may encounter more than one title for the same new documentary. It is distinct from Ferrente’s 2019 Selfie.

The available records establish a world premiere and a world-sales representative, but do not identify a subsequent release platform or public viewing date. The earlier film’s catalog listing does not establish availability for the new documentary.
