The comedy and cast give the series its liveliest moments, but its supernatural suspense and investigative logic are less convincing. The result is an uneven watch rather than a tightly constructed mystery.
What is Inspection Bungalow about?
The Malayalam series follows Vishnu, who needs to find a better location for the Aravangad Police Station. He settles on a forest inspection bungalow rumored to be haunted, putting the officers’ new workplace at the centre of the story’s supernatural trouble. The setup lets the series move between police-station dynamics, ghostly claims and comedy.

ZEE5 lists the series as a 2025 horror, comedy and fantasy title, rated U/A 16+, with seven episodes and a release date of November 14, 2025. Its listed cast includes Shabareesh Varma, Aadhya Prasad, Senthil Krishna, Jayan Cherthala and Saju Sreedhar; Saiju SS is credited as director. ZEE5’s listing is the official source for those details.
Does the horror-comedy balance work?
It works more reliably as comedy than as horror. Scroll’s Nandini Ramnath, in a review published November 14, 2025, finds the supernatural atmosphere less effective than the humour, while praising the engaging characters and Shabareesh Varma’s comic performance. Her assessment points to the show’s main strength: the people inhabiting the bungalow can be more entertaining than the mystery surrounding it. Read Scroll’s review.

The scares do not build enough suspense to make the horror side equally compelling. That imbalance matters because the haunted-bungalow premise promises more than an occasional eerie interruption: the supernatural threat should shape the tension and the investigation. Instead, the comedy tends to take the lead.
Director Saiju S.S. described the intention in a promotional feature: “Inspection Bungalow isn’t just about fear, it’s about finding laughter and meaning in the middle of it.” The line captures the intended mix, though it does not resolve the question of execution. Television Asia Plus published the quote on November 11, 2025.

Do the characters and police investigation hold up?
The central character contrasts give the comedy and mystery room to play. Scroll describes Vishnu as a devout, fearful cop; his colleague Parameswaran is a rationalist, while Mythili calls herself a ghost hunter and carries a gadget said to detect “paranormal waves.” The detector is a fictional story device, not a real product or verified technology.
Those opposing views could make the police team’s response to the bungalow’s strange events a satisfying engine for the plot. But the investigation does not consistently provide the logic or suspense needed to anchor the supernatural comedy. Cinema Express’s November 14, 2025 review criticizes the series for weak logic and convenient plotting, as well as familiar genre tropes and limited humour. It rated the series 1.5/5; that is one critic’s rating, not an audience score or a measure of broader reception. Read Cinema Express’s review.

Is seven episodes enough for the mystery?
ZEE5 lists seven episodes, a format that gives the ensemble space to develop but also puts pressure on the central mystery to keep advancing. The series’ character appeal and comic scenes help sustain interest, yet the familiar setup and uneven suspense make the investigation feel less absorbing than it needs to be across a full run. The episode count is confirmed by ZEE5’s official listing; the quality judgment is a critical assessment, not a platform statistic.
