The actors who play Stranger Things’ couples and close friends are not automatically dating one another off screen. Public reporting available as of late 2025 identified a few relationships, while describing other pairings only as rumored, believed or unconfirmed. The clearest way to read that coverage is to separate fictional storylines from attributed, dated reports about the performers’ private lives.
What the November 2025 report said
Netflix Life’s Crystal George published a cast-relationship roundup on November 26, 2025. It is a secondary-media snapshot, not a definitive or permanently current roster, and the article did not provide direct confirmation from every couple it mentioned.
| People named | What the November 26, 2025 roundup reported | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi | They began dating in 2021, became engaged in April 2023 and married in a private ceremony in May 2024. The article also reported that they welcomed an adopted daughter. | These are details attributed to that dated roundup; the official Netflix features discussed here were not independent verification of the timeline. |
| Gaten Matarazzo and Elizabeth Yu | The roundup said they had been together since 2018. | Preserve the source and date, since the reviewed coverage did not include a current direct statement from the couple. |
| Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton | It reported that they were dating and described them as relatively private about the relationship. | This remains an attributed report, not a claim that the couple has publicly documented every current detail. |
| Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson | The roundup characterized their connection as rumored. | “Rumored” is not confirmation and should not be rewritten as an established relationship. |
| Other cast members mentioned in the roundup | Some statuses were described with terms such as “believed” or “appears.” | Those qualifiers are material; silence or social-media speculation cannot turn them into facts. |
Are Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton together in real life?
The November 26, 2025 Netflix Life report said that Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton were dating and noted that they keep the relationship relatively private. Because that statement comes from a dated secondary roundup rather than a direct, current confirmation reviewed here, it should be presented with that attribution and date attached.
Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi: the reported timeline
According to the same November 2025 roundup, Brown and Bongiovi started dating in 2021, got engaged in April 2023 and married in a private ceremony in May 2024. The report also said they welcomed an adopted daughter. Those are claims made by that article; the Netflix Tudum and TIME features used for context do not independently verify each milestone.

Gaten Matarazzo and Elizabeth Yu
The roundup reported that Matarazzo and actor Elizabeth Yu had been together since 2018. No direct, current confirmation from the couple appears in the reviewed material, so the responsible wording is “the November 2025 report said,” rather than an unqualified statement that treats the status as permanently established.
Rumors should remain rumors
The roundup used different levels of certainty for different people. It called Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson’s connection rumored and used “believed” or “appears” for some other statuses. Those distinctions matter. A photograph, a friendly interaction, a lack of a breakup announcement or online fan discussion is not proof of a romantic relationship. The broad list should not be treated as a fully verified cast-by-cast record.

Why fictional couples can create real-life confusion
Stranger Things builds emotional storylines around characters such as Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers, Steve Harrington and his friends, and the younger ensemble’s tightly knit friendships. Those are scripted relationships. They do not establish anything about the actors who portray them.
Netflix Tudum’s May 14, 2026 feature describes the original actors meeting for a screen test in summer 2015 and reflecting on years of shared work. Caleb McLaughlin said, “It’s a relationship and a bond that I will never have again, because I experienced my adolescence with them, and that only happens one time in everyone’s lifetime.” Gaten Matarazzo similarly said, “It’s very rare you get to grow up with your friends and remain so close into adulthood, and to have the experience of those formative years being defined by the show and defined by our relationships with each other has been a real honor.”

Those comments support a story about friendship, trust and a shared coming-of-age experience—not evidence of romance. In another Netflix Tudum interview, Joe Keery, Matarazzo and Joseph Quinn discussed the actors’ bond while talking about the fictional friendship between Steve and Dustin. The overlap between on-screen chemistry and off-screen rapport helps explain fan interest, but it still does not convert performance into biography.
The cast grew up under unusual scrutiny
TIME’s October 17, 2025 feature examined what it was like for performers cast young on the series to mature while the public watched their work and social-media presence. Finn Wolfhard described feeling overwhelmed during season four: “I was having normal first-relationship struggles and juggling COVID and the show. Halfway through a scene I started hyperventilating.”

His account is a useful reminder that these are real people who were navigating adolescence, work pressure and private relationships simultaneously. Asking who is dating whom is understandable, but reporting should avoid invasive conclusions, especially when a person has not chosen to make a relationship public.

- Check the date. A November 26, 2025 roundup describes what was reported then, not an eternal status.
- Check the source type. A secondary entertainment article is different from a direct statement, an interview or an official announcement.
- Keep the source’s wording. “Dating,” “believed,” “appears” and “rumored” do not mean the same thing.
- Separate characters from actors. Screen romances and friendships are fictional unless the performers independently confirm something about their lives.
- Do not fill gaps with speculation. Absence of a post, photo or denial is not evidence either way.
The Bottom Line
The most defensible answer is a dated one: the November 2025 report described Brown and Bongiovi as married, Matarazzo and Yu as together, and Dyer and Heaton as dating, while labeling other pairings as rumored or uncertain. Those reports should not be confused with the fictional relationships on Stranger Things, and every status may have changed since publication.
