The Sacramento Bee likewise reported that the series was filmed mostly at a Montecito mansion about four miles from where Harry and Meghan lived. Realtor.com’s 2026 report and The Sacramento Bee’s report both distinguish the filming backdrop from the couple’s residence.
Published descriptions put the house at about 13,600 square feet. Realtor.com used that rounded figure in 2026; Forbes reported 13,599 square feet in 2023. These are published property descriptions, not measurements verified by an inspection for this article.
Was it Harry and Meghan’s actual home?
No. The filming estate and the Sussexes’ Montecito residence are separate properties. The $33.5 million figure was the original asking price reported for 888 Lilac Drive—not the price Harry and Meghan paid, and not the property’s eventual sale price. Realtor.com’s May 2026 account gives this listing and transaction timeline:

These are reported interior details, not features independently confirmed here. Realtor.com’s 2026 account repeated listing language promoting solar power, a generator, greywater irrigation, a private well, gardens and food-growing areas; those claims do not establish independently verified energy or water performance.

Why do published bedroom counts differ?
Room counts vary across coverage. Realtor.com reported four bedrooms and six bathrooms in its 2026 article, while Forbes described the property as a six-bedroom home in 2023. The reports therefore do not establish one consistent bedroom count; the difference should not be resolved by treating either published description as a verified current inventory.
