The clearest recent relationship update among the principal Wicked: For Good cast is a reported split: ABC News said in 2026 that Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater had ended their relationship, citing People. Most other details in cast coverage are older reports, not verified accounts of everyone’s status today. The film’s romances belong to its characters; they do not establish anything about the performers’ private lives.
Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater: a reported split
ABC News reported in 2026 that Grande and Slater had called it quits, attributing the breakup report to People. The article says filming began in December 2022 and that Grande and Slater were first photographed together in March 2023. Earlier coverage is useful only as a record of what was being reported at the time: Elle described Grande as dating Slater in February 2025, and Cosmopolitan also listed them as reportedly together in its 2025 roundup. Those older descriptions should not be presented as the latest status.
What Ariana Grande said about Cynthia Erivo rumors
In a profile published February 11, 2025, Elle quoted Grande responding to speculation that she and co-star Cynthia Erivo were secretly married: “People think we’re secretly married.” Grande also referred to romantic fan interpretations of Glinda and Elphaba as “the Gelphie stuff,” adding, “I wish I could unsee some things.” Her remarks addressed rumors and fan interpretations; they are not confirmation of a romantic relationship with Erivo. A separate Cosmopolitan roundup in 2025 reported that Erivo was dating Lena Waithe. That is dated secondary coverage, not a verified statement of Erivo’s current relationship status.
Jonathan Bailey: private details, not a public confirmation
Fiyero’s romantic story in the films is separate from Jonathan Bailey’s personal life. A 2025 Cosmopolitan roundup said Bailey was dating a man whose identity remained private, based on a prior public remark. Bailey has not been identified with a partner in the cited TIME profile, which does not establish his current status. No partner’s identity should be inferred from these reports. Other cast relationships reported in 2025
Cosmopolitan’s 2025 roundup also reported that Marissa Bode was dating Lauren Brooks, Michelle Yeoh was married to Jean Todt, and Jeff Goldblum was married to Emilie Livingston. It described Bowen Yang as appearing to be single or not publicly dating. These are dated entertainment reports, not October 2026 confirmations; the roundup’s wording about Yang is an observation about public visibility, not proof of his private status.
The official cast extends beyond these performers. Universal Pictures lists the film’s cast, while Peacock’s guide also covers additional cast members including Colman Domingo and Bronwyn James. The available cited coverage does not establish current relationship details for every performer, so no status should be inferred from a lack of reporting. The characters’ relationships are not the actors’
Peacock describes Fiyero as a love interest of both Glinda and Elphaba, and Glinda and Elphaba as sharing a deep friendship. Those are fictional relationships in the story, which adapts the 2003 stage musical and Gregory Maguire’s book series. They are not evidence about the actors’ real-life relationships.
