Mariah Carey’s Georgia mansion was in Sandy Springs, just outside Atlanta’s Buckhead area—not in Atlanta proper. Reports put her November 2021 purchase at $5.65 million; the home was later listed for $6.5 million, reduced to $5.995 million, and reportedly sold for $4.3 million in 2023.
Where was Mariah Carey’s Georgia mansion?
The estate was reported at 855 Davis Drive in Sandy Springs, a city north of Atlanta. Some coverage loosely described it as an Atlanta or Buckhead mansion, but Sandy Springs is the more precise location. Atlanta Business Chronicle reported the November 2021 purchase at $5.65 million, based on property records.

How did the reported prices change?
| Stage | Reported figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| November 2021 purchase | $5.65 million | Purchase price reported by Atlanta Business Chronicle in 2022, based on property records. |
| September 2022 listing | $6.5 million | Initial asking price reported in a Wall Street Journal story republished by The Mariah Carey Archives in 2022. |
| October 2022 price reduction | $5.995 million | Reduced asking price reported by Atlanta Business Chronicle in 2022. |
| 2023 sale | $4.3 million | Reported sale price, as covered by Architectural Digest in 2023. |
The $5.6 million in the headline rounds the reported $5.65 million purchase figure; it is not the later asking price. The reported sale price was $1.35 million below the reported purchase price ($5.65 million − $4.3 million). That arithmetic alone does not establish Carey’s net gain or loss: taxes, carrying costs, transaction expenses, and tax basis are not established in the cited coverage.
What Carey said about Atlanta and New York
In a September 2022 report, BET attributed a statement to Carey that was supplied through the listing brokerage: “I will always have a close connection to Atlanta! It was a perfect moment during COVID, but I will continue to spend time in New York City, my long-term residence.” The statement was relayed to TODAY through Ansley Real Estate Christie’s International, rather than reported as a direct interview.
