The $4.7 million figure attached to Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas’ New York home is a media-reported estimate, not a current appraisal. The property is Long Meadow, a Georgian-style estate in Irvington, Westchester County, overlooking the Hudson River. Architectural Digest reported a $4.5 million purchase in 2019; Realtor.com later reported a $12 million asking price when it was listed in 2024. Those figures describe different claims at different times, and the available reports do not establish the home’s status today.

Which New York home is it?

The estate commonly described as the couple’s $4.7 million New York home is Long Meadow in Irvington, not their former country house in Bedford. Architectural Digest identifies Long Meadow as a 1930s Georgian-style residence on the Hudson River and reported that the couple bought it in 2019. Architectural Digest’s 2019 report describes a three-story house with 22 rooms, eight bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms, two half bathrooms and seven fireplaces.

A later account gives a slightly different set of property details. Realtor.com calls the house a 1929 home and reports more than 11,600 square feet, eight bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms and 12 acres. These counts should remain tied to their respective publications: the reports differ in how they describe the house’s age, total rooms, area and bathrooms. Realtor.com’s June 2024 account also reported that the estate had been listed for $12 million; that dated listing does not confirm whether it remains for sale or who owns it now.

What the house looks like inside

Formal rooms and a paneled library

Architectural Digest’s tour describes a striped foyer leading into a residence with a red-lacquer dining room and a wood-paneled library. Realtor.com likewise notes a red dining room and a two-story paneled library. In a separate Homes & Gardens interview, Zeta-Jones described her New York library as a British-style, wood-paneled 1920s room with a spiral staircase. Her interview with Homes & Gardens also includes her explanation of what makes a place feel like home: “I have been on the move since I was 15 and have lived in London, Paris, LA, New York, and Bermuda – this is why home for me is always where my family is.”

Kitchen shelving and the blue closet

Homes & Gardens’ kitchen feature focuses on open shelving in a monochromatic, rustic kitchen. The shelves serve as both storage and display, with decorative cast-iron oven dishes adding visual interest. The feature does not establish the identity of a particular shelf or cookware product installed in the home. See the kitchen feature.

Another Homes & Gardens feature highlights glossy dark-blue cupboards and a blue floor, set against white walls. It is a bold color scheme rather than a neutral closet interior. The closet feature documents those details.

The pool, grounds and Hudson views

The estate’s amenities extend beyond the formal rooms. Architectural Digest lists a gym, game room and indoor swimming pool, along with a stone terrace and outdoor kitchen. Realtor.com describes a heated indoor pool, river frontage, terrace and four-car garage. Its 2024 account places the house on 12 acres and notes glossy wood and stone floors and a long entrance gallery.

The outdoor setting is a central part of the home’s presentation. Homes & Gardens describes symmetrical patio paving, a lawn, woodland, Hudson views and a balcony with cast-iron railings. The magazine also reproduced a patio photograph caption from Zeta-Jones’s Instagram: “When ‘OCD’ is in perfect harmony. The snow flurries rest around my patio slabs in just the right place, ahhhh.” This was an Instagram caption, not an interview statement. Homes & Gardens’ patio feature shows the setting.

What the reported prices mean

Figure What it refers to Source and date
$4.5 million Reported purchase price for the Irvington estate Architectural Digest, 2019
$4.7 million Media-reported value for the Irvington home, not a current appraisal Homes & Gardens features, 2022–2023
$12 million Reported asking price when the property was listed Realtor.com, June 2024

The figures refer to distinct points and kinds of reporting: a purchase price, a later editorially reported value and a subsequent reported asking price. They are not a sequence of verified sale prices or a statement of the property’s present market value. Homes & Gardens’ coverage uses the $4.7 million description in features on the kitchen, closet and patio. Kitchen, closet and patio.

Long Meadow is not the couple’s former Bedford house

The Bedford property was a separate Colonial country house, covered in 2014. Style at Home described a 1938 home of 6,600 square feet on 5.7 acres, with six bedrooms, a renovated kitchen, gym, sauna, guest house and greenhouse; its reported asking price was $8.1 million. The Los Angeles Times also reported an $8.1 million listing and said the couple had bought the Bedford property in 2010 for $5.075 million. Architectural Digest later reported that the couple sold that house in 2019. Those details belong to Bedford, not the Irvington estate.
