What happened when Ingrid Andress sang the national anthem at the Home Run Derby?
On July 15, 2024, Andress performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the MLB Home Run Derby at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The rendition drew widespread criticism. The following day, she addressed the performance in a public statement reproduced by The Washington Post.
“I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country I love so much for that rendition.”

How did Andress explain the lead-up and the response?
In a 2025 interview with Glamour, Andress reflected on the incident, online backlash, perfectionism, and her return to performing. She described the episode as a signal that she needed to pause and figure out what was happening, and connected the lead-up to personal changes and drinking that had become numbing. Those are her descriptions of her experience, not a clinical account.

At the time of that June 2025 interview, she also said she was nearing completion of an album. She characterized its songs as versions of herself she had wanted to share, rather than “rehab songs.” That was her description of the project then; it does not establish when the album would be released.
Did Ingrid Andress sing the anthem again after the 2024 Home Run Derby?
Yes. Andress sang the national anthem at a Colorado Avalanche game in Denver on February 28, 2025. In an interview with Variety, as reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, she said she was frightened beforehand and chose to perform anyway. She described the crowd joining in as helping the moment feel like stress relief.

Reflecting on the 2024 incident, she said: “I feel like the botching the anthem was the sign for me to be like, ‘Hey, we need to stop and figure out what’s going on,’” The return was a decision to perform again, not evidence on its own about her health or recovery status.

In a March 2026 interview reported by American Songwriter, Andress said “Now I Know” began as a relationship song, but its meaning shifted after the Home Run Derby incident: “‘Now I Know’ started as more of a relationship song, but after that incident, the meaning of the song kind of took on a whole new direction,” She also discussed “Taillights” and “All the Best” as part of the music she was developing.

Her label, Warner Records Nashville, says she is working on music to follow her albums Good Person and Lady Like. The 2026 interview discusses a planned third album, but neither that interview nor the label information confirms a release date. As of October 8, 2026, the official music page lists the individual songs above; the sources available do not establish that the next album has been released.
