Acapulco earns its feel-good reputation with warmth, optimism and emotional honesty—not by pretending life is free of conflict. The bilingual comedy follows Máximo’s rise at a resort in Acapulco, weaving family, ambition and loyalty into a colorful workplace story. Its fourth season, released in 2025, was its last. I’m not ready to say goodbye.
What makes Acapulco feel so good
At the center of Acapulco is Las Colinas, a resort where professional ambition and personal relationships are constantly intertwined. The hotel gives the show a lively ensemble and plenty of workplace chaos, while its sunlit setting contributes to the buoyant tone. The appeal, though, is not just the scenery: the characters’ hopes, loyalties and family ties give the comedy emotional weight.
That combination is why the comparison to Ted Lasso works as a personal critical lens. Both shows lean toward emotional warmth and optimism. Acapulco has its own identity: it is bilingual, rooted in a Mexican resort setting, and built around hotel life and two timelines. Its joy and celebration sit alongside the realities affecting Latino communities; “feel-good” does not mean conflict-free or detached from social context.
How the two timelines tell Máximo’s story
The series moves between present-day Máximo, played by Eugenio Derbez, and his younger self in the 1980s, played by Enrique Arrizon. The structure lets the show connect the person Máximo has become with the ambition and relationships that shaped him at Las Colinas.

Rather than treating the resort only as a backdrop, the show uses its workplace and social world to explore finding one’s place. The past-and-present contrast gives those character stories a longer view, while keeping the comedy’s focus on people navigating work, family and big hopes.
Why the farewell feels earned
Apple announced season four as the series’ 10-episode final season. It premiered globally on July 23, 2025, with two episodes, then released new episodes weekly through September 17. The season’s two Máximos face connected but distinct challenges: present-day Máximo works to restore Las Colinas before its grand reopening, while young Máximo tries to recover the resort’s top position in Acapulco’s annual “Best Hotels” ranking. Apple’s official series page identifies episode 10, “Never Gonna Give You Up,” as the series finale.

Derbez, the show’s star and an executive producer, described the ending as bittersweet in Apple’s May 6, 2025 announcement: “These four seasons have been magical.” He also praised the way the production celebrated Mexico’s culture, beauty and warmth. That is a farewell from someone closely involved with the series, not independent evidence of audience response, but it captures the affection behind the show’s cultural and emotional emphasis.
Who should watch Acapulco
If you want a comedy with an optimistic outlook and emotional stakes, Acapulco is a natural choice. It may especially appeal if you enjoy stories about hotel-workplace ensembles, bilingual storytelling, Mexican settings or narratives that move between past and present. Viewers looking for a direct copy of Ted Lasso may find the comparison misleading: the shows share warmth, but Acapulco tells a distinctly different story.

The finale gives the series a definite endpoint rather than leaving its status open. For anyone who has come to care about Máximo, his family and the people at Las Colinas, that makes the farewell real—and the show’s warmth all the harder to leave behind.
