Ian Wright’s granddaughter Raffaella Wright-Phillips was shown doing football drills and demonstrating an impressive first touch in a video covered by ITV News on 4 August 2023. Wright spoke about her early interest in football and said, “And that’s what it’s about. Football is for everyone.” The report is from 2023, not a verified new 2026 update.
Who is Ian Wright’s granddaughter in the video?
ITV News identified her as Raffaella Wright-Phillips, Ian Wright’s granddaughter. The article described her as nine at the time of publication; that is a 2023 age, not a current one. Wright’s public LinkedIn post renders her name as Raphaella, but ITV’s spelling is used here for consistency.
What did the football video show?
ITV described footage of Raffaella working through drills with a coach and showing an impressive first touch. The report does not identify a club, establish a training history, or say what level she currently plays at.
What did Ian Wright say about her interest in football?
Wright connected the clip with her early interest in the game, telling ITV: “She used to sleep with a football – we had an inkling that when she was younger that she would like to play football.” He also said: “And that’s what it’s about. Football is for everyone.”

How viral was the video, and is it new?
ITV reported that one video had received 1.5 million views on Twitter when its story was published in 2023. That is the view figure ITV reported at that time; it is not a current count, and it should not be attributed to another platform. The available reporting does not confirm a newer video or establish that the headline’s “new viral video” refers to a 2026 update.
Campaign context
In a public LinkedIn post, Wright described an adidas campaign involving his granddaughter and girls’ football. That provides campaign context, but it does not establish an endorsement of a particular adidas product.
