Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster were reported to have arrived together and held hands during a dinner outing in Santa Monica on January 6, 2025. Contemporary entertainment coverage treated the photographs as a public confirmation of their romance, but neither actor is reported to have made a formal announcement at the restaurant.
What happened during the reported dinner outing?
The dinner took place on Monday, January 6, 2025, in Santa Monica, California. A reproduction of a PEOPLE report and E! News coverage described Jackman and Foster arriving together and being photographed holding hands. E! characterized the outing as confirming their romance; that is the outlet’s interpretation of the public photographs, not a reported verbal announcement by either actor. The reproduced PEOPLE report and E! News’ account provide the event details.
Why did the outing draw attention?
Jackman and Foster had worked together in the Broadway revival of The Music Man, which ran from December 2021 to January 2023, according to the reproduced report. The production gave audiences a public connection between the two performers, but it does not establish when a private relationship began.
Foster spoke warmly about their professional partnership. At the 2024 Drama Desk Awards, she described Jackman to PEOPLE as “one of the greatest guys ever, an incredible costar.” During a joint Late Night With Seth Meyers appearance promoting the musical in May 2022, she said, “The show is so joyful, and I’m having the time of my life playing opposite this guy.” These remarks were about working together, not a relationship announcement.

What did later coverage say about their relationship?
In May 2026, Smooth Radio described the pair as having gone official and referred to an appearance together at a New York premiere in April 2026. That later coverage places the January dinner within an ongoing public story; it does not turn the restaurant outing into a formal announcement. Smooth Radio’s 2026 profile reports those later details.
In August 2026, Us Weekly reported, citing unnamed sources, that Jackman and Foster had discussed a possible engagement. The report concerns a potential future step; it does not confirm that they are engaged or quote either actor making that claim. Us Weekly’s report attributes the information to anonymous sources.

What the January 2025 report establishes—and what it does not
- Established by the coverage: reports and photographs described the pair arriving together and holding hands at a Santa Monica dinner on January 6, 2025.
