The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Depeche Mode is a 100-piece limited edition announced in February 2024 to mark the band’s Memento Mori album and world tour. Its black ceramic tonneau case frames a skull-and-hourglass dial, while the package pairs the watch with two interchangeable straps and a 10-inch Wagging Tongue vinyl single.
What is the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Depeche Mode?
It is a 2024 collaboration between Hublot and Depeche Mode, revealed by Hublot in Berlin on 19 February. The watch connects the band’s Memento Mori album and tour to a design about mortality and time passing. Hublot describes the skull and hourglass as a visual expression of the album’s memento mori theme.
The collaboration also continues a relationship between the watchmaker and the band. In its announcement, Hublot said the partnership had raised more than USD $2.3 million for Teenage Cancer Trust and charity: water. Those are Hublot’s cumulative fundraising figures, not an independently audited total presented in the announcement. Hublot’s announcement also said the first 2023 funding round for the Conservation Collective supported seven initiatives in seven countries addressing plastic pollution.
How many were made?
Hublot announced an edition of 100 pieces. The company’s announcement does not state a launch price, current price, or present-day availability, so those details should be confirmed with a seller rather than inferred from other Spirit of Big Bang models.

Skull, hourglass and moving spheres
The dial’s central image combines a skull and hourglass, surrounded by small black ceramic spheres. Hublot says the spheres appear to move as the wearer moves their wrist, evoking the passage of time. The Depeche Mode initials sit at 6 o’clock, and pyramid-shaped studs mark the indices and the black ceramic bezel.
What comes with the watch?
- A recycled-material Velcro strap.
- A black rubber strap with a black titanium folding clasp.
- A 10-inch Wagging Tongue vinyl single in the special box. Hublot describes the record as exclusive to this package and says it was made using green energy and recycled PVC.
Both straps use Hublot’s patented One Click interchangeable system. The announcement does not establish that the vinyl single is sold separately.

What does the collaboration represent?
The watch makes its theme explicit through the skull and hourglass: a reminder of mortality and the finite nature of time. In Hublot’s announcement, Depeche Mode member Martin Gore connected the album’s message to environmental awareness and the band’s support for the Conservation Collective. Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe likewise described the collaboration as part of the company’s work with Depeche Mode on social and environmental causes. These statements explain the partnership’s stated intent; they do not establish the results of each funded project.
