She first pursued fashion as a career, changed course after an internship showed her it was not the right fit, and went on to culinary training, private-chef work and food media. The fashion and interiors that appear alongside her cooking now are, by her account, a natural extension of her interests—not a planned pivot away from food.
Fashion came first as a career plan
Hayden describes her childhood interests simply: “I grew up with two main passions in life: food and fashion.” In her account on Wishbone Kitchen’s About page, she says she initially pursued fashion because it seemed like the safer career path. A fashion merchandising internship proved to be a poor fit, prompting her to reconsider the direction she had chosen.
That early experience helps explain the distinction between fashion as a profession she once considered and fashion as a lasting personal interest. Her move toward food did not mean she stopped caring about clothes or style; it changed which interest would anchor her working life.
How she moved from fashion toward food
After changing direction, Hayden studied at the Institute of Culinary Education and worked as a private chef for fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra’s family. The Institute of Culinary Education’s alumni profile documents her culinary training, while ELLE’s May 6, 2025 interview describes her private-chef work. That combination placed her food career in close proximity to the fashion world without making her content simply fashion coverage.

Hayden says she began Wishbone Kitchen’s social accounts to advertise her private-chef services. A post eventually went viral, setting off a change in her career, according to her own biography. The shift to a larger public audience grew out of a practical way to find clients rather than a declared plan to become a lifestyle creator.
Food remains the center; style adds context
As Wishbone Kitchen developed, Hayden began sharing more of her fashion, interiors and home life alongside cooking. In ELLE, she described the expansion as organic rather than as a carefully scheduled rebrand: “I don’t have any master plans in terms of a pivot in that direction.” That statement matters when interpreting the mix of content. Fashion and home life offer a view of the person and setting around the food; they do not establish that Wishbone Kitchen has left cooking behind or that Hayden set out to build a fashion brand.
The connection is also visible in the format of her food work: cooking and hosting are presented as part of a lived-in aesthetic, not as separate from the home where meals happen. Her cookbook makes the food side tangible. Penguin Random House’s Spring 2025 Food & Drink catalog describes The Wishbone Kitchen Cookbook: Seasonal Recipes for Everyday Luxury and Elevated Entertaining as a collection of 100 recipes intended to help readers cook and host like a private chef. That publisher description anchors the broader lifestyle presentation in a specific, substantial body of recipes.

For Hayden, fashion and food are not competing subjects so much as different parts of a personal sensibility. The career sequence moved from an initial fashion plan to culinary training and private-chef work; the media sequence began with food-service promotion and expanded to include more of her surroundings and interests. Keeping those stages distinct avoids mistaking the visible style of Wishbone Kitchen for evidence of a hidden career pivot.

Her public reach has also been described at particular moments, not as a permanent count. TIME’s July 9, 2025 TIME100 Creators profile reported more than 2.7 million followers across TikTok and Instagram at publication. ELLE’s May 6, 2025 profile separately reported 2.3 million TikTok followers and 1.3 million Instagram followers. These are dated snapshots, not current live totals.
TIME’s 2025 profile also quoted Hayden reflecting on professional kitchens: “Femininity isn’t always embraced in professional kitchens.” That is her perspective on her experience, rather than a claim about every kitchen. It adds another dimension to the crossover: her work brings a recognizable feminine aesthetic into food media while remaining grounded in the practical craft of cooking and hosting.
In an ELLE discussion of dining alone, Hayden offered a similarly expansive view of hospitality: “Having dinner by yourself but watching your favorite show is a dinner party. It’s a mindset. It’s not limited to a certain headcount.” The idea fits the broader presentation of Wishbone Kitchen: food and hosting are not reserved for formal occasions, and the lifestyle around a meal can be part of the story.
