It was a two-hour retrospective that originally aired in the United States on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. PT on CBS.
The original streaming home was Paramount+, but the complete special’s current availability is not verified as of August 11, 2026. The safest approach is to search Paramount+ for the exact title before subscribing. If the full program is no longer listed, the official American Music Awards YouTube channel remains a reliable place to find authorized clips and retrospective segments—not necessarily the complete two-hour broadcast.
Where to look for the full special now
Start with check Paramount+ for the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special by searching the exact title in the service’s current catalog. Paramount+ carried the original CBS event, so it is the historically correct service to check first.
However, availability has changed. The current Paramount+ American Music Awards page was not accessible during the research check and returned a 404, while TV Guide’s listing confirms that the program is a 2024 title without showing a current streaming provider in the accessible listing. That means the full special should be treated as unconfirmed, not as a guaranteed Paramount+ replay.

- Supports HDMI ARC - Sends audio directly from the HDMI jack to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver, removing the need for an extra cable.
Do not subscribe solely on the assumption that the special is still available. Confirm that a full episode or title-specific replay appears in your region first. Catalogs can also differ by country, and the original U.S. distribution information does not establish availability internationally.
How the special originally streamed
| Original viewing route | What it provided |
|---|---|
| CBS | The live U.S. television broadcast on October 6, 2024, from 8:00–10:00 p.m. ET / 5:00–7:00 p.m. PT. |
| Paramount+ with SHOWTIME | The local CBS live feed and on-demand access to the special. |
| Paramount+ Essential | On-demand access beginning the day after the broadcast; it was not the tier identified for the live CBS feed. |
Those were the original distribution arrangements. They should not be read as a promise that every Paramount+ plan still includes the program in 2026.
Watch official clips and highlights on YouTube
If Paramount+ does not show the complete special, check the official American Music Awards YouTube presence for authorized material. The channel has published segments connected with the anniversary event, including a Mariah Carey retrospective and a feature celebrating 50 years of country music.

Check the video title, description, runtime, and uploader carefully: an individual highlight is different from an official full-length upload.
What is in the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special?

The announced format grouped the material into themed retrospectives, with many segments leading into a new performance or artist interview. The performance lineup included:

Could a live-TV streaming service still show it?
During the original broadcast window, contemporaneous viewing guides identified CBS-capable services such as DirecTV Stream, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV as possible ways to receive CBS without a traditional cable subscription, subject to local-channel availability.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThat does not establish that any of those services currently carry the 2024 special on demand. Their live-channel lineups and replay catalogs change, and a service that delivered CBS in October 2024 is not automatically a current source for this archived program. For a future live CBS broadcast, compare CBS live-TV streaming options and verify that your local CBS station is included. For this particular special, check the exact title rather than signing up based only on CBS access.

What about using a VPN?
A VPN may help a traveler access a streaming subscription in the subscriber’s established home region where the service permits that use. It cannot restore a program that has been removed from a catalog, create viewing rights in a country where the title is unavailable, or guarantee access to the full special.
Check the service’s terms and local copyright rules. A VPN is a secondary access consideration—not a dependable solution to the current availability uncertainty.

Important date clarification
Search results can make this title appear current because the American Music Awards continue as a franchise. The American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special specifically refers to the October 6, 2024 retrospective. It should not be confused with a later annual AMAs ceremony, a highlights compilation, or a newly announced 2026 event.
