What “free” means on BBC iPlayer
BBC iPlayer does not require a separate subscription. That does not mean you can watch without meeting the TV Licence rules: you must be covered by a TV Licence to watch or download BBC programmes on iPlayer. The requirement applies whatever device you use. BBC Help explains that BBC iPlayer and BBC.com subscriptions are separate services; TV Licensing and a UK Parliament answer published 26 March 2026 confirm the licence requirement.
Can you watch iPlayer outside the UK?
No. BBC Help says BBC iPlayer is available only in the UK, and BBC Studios says rights agreements restrict streaming and downloading BBC iPlayer television programmes to people inside the UK. A TV Licence or BBC.com subscription does not make the iPlayer catalogue available abroad. BBC Studios FAQs

Why older availability information may be misleading
A BBC public-interest-test statement said the series’ final episode was released in April 2022 and described Peaky Blinders moving to archive-box-set status after April 2023 under the producer deal in effect at that time.
