Yes—you can watch Crunchyroll on any current Mac through the Crunchyroll website. Open Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge, sign in, choose a title, and start playback. Crunchyroll’s current official device information does not list a native macOS app, and official episode downloads are not supported on a Mac.
The easiest way to watch Crunchyroll on a Mac
- Update macOS and your browser.
- Open Crunchyroll in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Select Log In, or choose Create Account and enter an email address and password. Complete the activation step if prompted.
- Search or browse for a series or movie, then open its title page.
- Select an episode and press the play button.
- Use the player controls to choose available subtitles or dubbed audio, adjust quality, and enter full-screen mode.
Labels and available languages can differ by title, account, browser, and country. If a title requires Premium, Crunchyroll will show the applicable subscription prompt or any free viewing option currently available in your region.

These requirements apply to Macs capable of running the listed browsers, including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Studio models. Browser requirements can change, so use the current supported-devices page as the authority.
Crunchyroll’s older browser-troubleshooting article still shows lower thresholds, including Safari 16.1 and Chromium or Firefox versions 117. Treat the newer supported-device page as the primary reference and update your browser rather than targeting an older minimum.
Is there a Crunchyroll app for Mac?
Crunchyroll’s current official supported-device information and its App Store listing do not list a native macOS app. The listing identifies compatibility with iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision, and Apple TV, not a dedicated Mac application.

For that reason, do not download software advertised as “Crunchyroll for Mac” from an unofficial site. Browser wrappers, cracked applications, screen-recording utilities, and downloaders can expose your account or attempt to bypass content protections. The supported Mac route is the website in a current browser.

Do you need Crunchyroll Premium?
A free account may provide some titles, previews, or other free viewing, depending on current regional rules. Premium generally adds an ad-free library, broader access, and earlier availability of new episodes; exact benefits vary by country and plan.

Can you download Crunchyroll episodes to a Mac?
No. Crunchyroll’s official offline-viewing documentation says downloads are supported on mobile devices and Nintendo Switch, not on a PC. “Offline viewing” in a Premium plan therefore does not mean saving episodes to a MacBook or iMac browser.
For travel, download episodes in a supported Crunchyroll mobile app on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, or use a Nintendo Switch where supported. Crunchyroll says unplayed downloads typically last about seven days, while a download that has been started typically remains available for about 48 hours after playback begins; plan, title, and device restrictions apply. Do not use ripping, screen-recording, DRM-removal, or third-party download tools.

Which plan is best for a Mac user?
- Fan: the practical choice for one Mac or one primary viewer who wants ad-free access and does not need multiple streams.
- Mega Fan: worthwhile when a household needs up to four simultaneous streams or mobile offline viewing.
- Ultimate Fan: justified only when six simultaneous streams or its extra perks matter.
Direct Crunchyroll billing is the most portable option across Crunchyroll.com and supported apps. An Apple TV Channel subscription is a separate route with different account limitations, described below.
How to watch Crunchyroll in Apple’s TV app on a Mac
Crunchyroll says its Apple TV Channel is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Where offered, you can subscribe and watch through Apple’s TV app on a Mac.

Work through these steps in order; stop when playback returns.
Refresh and test the browser
- Refresh the episode page.
- Perform a Mac hard refresh with Shift + Command + R.
- Close and reopen the browser.
- Install the latest browser update.
- Try another supported browser.
Remove extension and privacy conflicts
- Temporarily disable ad blockers, script blockers, VPNs, proxies, and privacy extensions for Crunchyroll.
- Open the site in a private or incognito window. If it works there, an extension or stored site data is likely interfering.
- Clear Crunchyroll cookies and cached data, then sign out and sign back in.

Black screen or constant stuttering
Disable content blockers, test another supported browser, clear cache and cookies, and check whether the failure affects one title or every video. A single-title problem can indicate title, language, or regional availability rather than a Mac fault.

Resolve DRM errors
Browser playback uses protected-content (DRM) support. Update the browser, enable protected content where that browser requests it, and disable extensions that interfere. Do not turn protected playback off or try to bypass it. Follow Crunchyroll’s DRM-error instructions.
Reduce buffering
- Run a connection test or try another network.
- Lower playback quality temporarily if the connection is unstable.
- Pause other bandwidth-heavy downloads or streams.
- Restart the router when several services are affected.
- Compare playback in another browser to separate network problems from browser state.

Check region and network restrictions
Catalogs, subtitles, dubs, plans, and playback rights vary by country. If a title is available on one device but not another, confirm both devices use the same account and region, and check for VPN or proxy routing. Changing DNS to OpenDNS or Google Public DNS is an advanced, late-stage experiment mentioned in Crunchyroll’s older guidance—not a universal fix—and it changes how the whole Mac resolves websites.

If none of the above works, provide Crunchyroll support with your Mac model and macOS version, browser and version, country, affected title and episode, exact error text or code, and whether private browsing or another browser changed the result.
Bottom line for Mac owners
Use the Crunchyroll website in an up-to-date supported browser. There is currently no listed native macOS app and no official Mac download option. Premium is useful for ad-free access, catalog access, simultaneous streams, and downloads on supported mobile devices—not for changing how a Mac browser plays video. The Apple TV Channel is a separate, region-limited subscription for viewers who specifically want Apple’s TV app.
