Attack on Titan is easiest to follow in the order its television episodes and finale were released. The franchise also includes eight optional OADs, recap material, a parody series and live-action films, which can make streaming menus look more complicated than they are.
For a first viewing, follow the eight-part main sequence below. Add the OADs after Season 1 if you want more character background, or skip them for a direct route through the central story.

| 4 | Attack on Titan Season 3, Part 2 | 10 episodes |
| 5 | The Final Season, Part 1 | 16 episodes |

| 8 | The Final Chapters — Special 2 | Long-form special; conclusion |
The final two entries originally aired as television specials rather than standard-length episodes. On Crunchyroll, they may be listed under Attack on Titan Final Season as E-SP1 and E-SP2. Special 2 follows Special 1 directly and completes the anime.

Simple order for the essential story
If you are not interested in side stories, watch:
- Season 1
- Season 2
- Season 3, Part 1
- Season 3, Part 2
- The Final Season, Part 1
- The Final Season, Part 2
- The Final Chapters, Special 1
- The Final Chapters, Special 2
There is no need to search for a separate “Season 4” entry if your service labels the final run as The Final Season. The split parts and the two concluding specials are the material that completes the television anime.
Where the eight OADs fit
The OADs—often called OVAs—are optional side stories. They are not needed to understand the main plot, but they expand the histories of Levi, Annie, Mikasa, Jean, Sasha and the Survey Corps.
For a first-time viewer, the safest placement is to watch all eight after Season 1 and before Season 2:
- Ilse’s Notebook: Memoirs of a Scout Regiment Member
- The Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of Youth
- Distress
- No Regrets: Part 1
- No Regrets: Part 2
- Lost Girls: Wall Sina, Goodbye: Part 1
- Lost Girls: Wall Sina, Goodbye: Part 2
- Lost Girls: Lost in the Cruel World
This is a spoiler-conscious viewing recommendation, not a strict chronological reconstruction. The first three OADs take place early in the story, No Regrets is a Levi prequel, the two Wall Sina, Goodbye episodes center on Annie, and Lost in the Cruel World is a separate Mikasa-focused story. Watching them after Season 1 gives you enough familiarity with the main cast for the side material to land properly.
Rank #2
If you have already finished the series, you can treat the OADs as supplementary viewing in any convenient order. They do not need to be inserted between individual television episodes.
Can you watch THE LAST ATTACK instead?
Yes. Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK is an omnibus film that combines The Final Chapters: Special 1 and Special 2. It is an alternative presentation of the ending, not a sequel that comes after the two specials.
Choose one of these two paths:
- Television-special route: The Final Chapters, Special 1, then Special 2.
- Movie route: Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK.
Do not watch both as though they were separate story chapters. The movie combines the same concluding material, so viewing both is mainly useful if you want to compare the edits, presentation or cinema experience.
What Attack on Titan: Chronicle is—and is not
Attack on Titan: Chronicle should not be placed after Season 3 as if it were the next installment. It is a compilation film that re-edits the 59 television episodes from Seasons 1–3. It can serve as a recap, but it does not continue the narrative or replace the experience of watching the original seasons.

Spin-offs and films to leave out of the main sequence
Several Attack on Titan titles are not part of the main anime watch order:
- Attack on Titan: Junior High: a comedy spin-off that turns the characters into students at Titan Junior High School.
- Japanese live-action films and related live-action productions: separate adaptations rather than chapters in the anime continuity.
- Attack on Titan: Chronicle: a recap of Seasons 1–3, not new story content.
These can be explored after the anime, but inserting them into the episode sequence will not clarify the plot.
Where to watch in the United States
As of August 9, 2026, listings show the anime available in the United States through Hulu, Crunchyroll and the Crunchyroll Amazon Channel. Digital purchase listings include Amazon Video and the Apple TV Store.
Rank #4
- Polish Release, cover may contain Polish text/markings. The disk has English audio and subtitles.
Streaming rights change, and the exact listing may depend on your subscription, location, subtitle options and dub availability. Crunchyroll may display the finale as E-SP1 and E-SP2 rather than using the full special titles.
Hulu’s guide states that subscribers can access all four seasons with subtitles and English dubbing, but its published watch-order information is outdated: it places some OADs between seasons and describes the series as having concluded in 2022. The final anime specials were released in 2023, so use the release order in this guide when the service’s description conflicts with the actual episode list.
The no-confusion version
For the shortest correct answer, watch every main season in order, then watch The Final Chapters Special 1 and Special 2—or watch THE LAST ATTACK instead of those two specials. Add the OADs after Season 1 if you want optional character stories. Leave Chronicle, Junior High and the live-action films outside the main sequence.

Should I watch the Attack on Titan OADs before Season 1?
No. For a first viewing, watch Season 1 first, then the eight OADs, and continue with Season 2. This introduces the main cast before the side stories and avoids unnecessary context problems.

Best Value
Do I need to watch all eight OADs?
No. They are optional side stories and are not required to understand the main anime. They add background for characters including Levi, Annie, Mikasa and members of the Survey Corps.
Is Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK a sequel?
No. It combines The Final Chapters: Special 1 and Special 2 into one film. Watch the movie instead of the two specials, not after them as an additional chapter.
Where does Attack on Titan: Chronicle belong?
It does not belong in the main episode order. Chronicle is a compilation of the 59 episodes from Seasons 1–3 and works as recap material rather than a continuation.
The Bottom Line
Best first-time order: Season 1 → Season 2 → Season 3, Part 1 → Season 3, Part 2 → The Final Season, Part 1 → Part 2 → The Final Chapters, Special 1 → Special 2. Watch the eight OADs after Season 1 if you want the optional side stories, or replace the two final specials with THE LAST ATTACK.
