The 97th Academy Awards are no longer airing live. The ceremony took place on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with Conan O’Brien as host. In the United States, viewers could watch the ceremony on Hulu, local ABC stations, ABC.com, or the ABC app, depending on their access and location. This guide records the official 2025 options and clarifies which services carried the full ceremony versus red-carpet coverage.
Where the 2025 Oscars streamed in the United States
The main ceremony was scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern / 4 p.m. Pacific. There were several ways to receive the broadcast, but they did not all work in the same way.
| Service or platform | What it offered | Important restriction |
|---|---|---|
| Hulu | Live stream of the ceremony, with the full program scheduled to become available the following day | The 2025 announcement described the event as streaming directly on Hulu; Hulu + Live TV was not required for this Hulu option |
| Local ABC station | The live television broadcast | Availability depended on the viewer’s local market |
| ABC.com and the ABC app | Live ABC stream | Required authentication with a participating TV provider and was available only in select markets |
| Hulu + Live TV | ABC broadcast through its live-TV package | Local ABC affiliate availability varied by market |
| YouTube TV, FuboTV, and AT&T TV | ABC broadcast through a live-TV streaming package | These services did not guarantee ABC in every ZIP code |
When the ceremony and red-carpet coverage began
The official “The Oscars Red Carpet Show” began on ABC at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT. The ceremony followed at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
ABC News also presented a separate program called “On the Red Carpet at the Oscars.” It started earlier and was distributed through a much wider selection of digital platforms. These two programs were not the same, and neither should be confused with the complete awards ceremony.

Where to watch the Oscars red carpet
ABC News distributed On the Red Carpet at the Oscars through the following outlets:
- ABC News Live
- Hulu and Disney+
- The Roku Channel
- YouTube and YouTube TV
- Samsung TV Plus
- Amazon
- Pluto TV, Xumo, and Tubi
- TikTok
- ABCNews.com
- The ABC News and ABC News Live apps
Those outlets carried the ABC News red-carpet program, not necessarily the main Oscars telecast. In particular, finding Oscars coverage on YouTube did not mean that YouTube was carrying the complete ceremony for free.
How the ABC stream worked
- Open ABC.com or the ABC app.
- Choose the live ABC stream or the Oscars listing when it is available.
- Sign in with a participating television-provider account.
- Confirm that the account and ZIP code are eligible for the local ABC affiliate.
ABC’s online stream was not an unrestricted public feed. A viewer could have an ABC-capable service and still find that the affiliate was unavailable in their market. Checking the provider’s local-channel lineup before the broadcast was therefore important.
Why having a backup mattered
Hulu’s first live Oscars stream had serious problems. Some users could not log in when the broadcast began because of an issue with Hulu’s login system. Hulu later said that problem had been fixed. Other viewers saw the livestream end before the final awards, with a message saying that the live event had ended.

Disney attributed the premature cutoff to a scheduling issue and later said that a full replay was available on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. For a future awards broadcast, the practical lesson is simple: do not rely on one streaming route if the ceremony matters to you. Keep one of these alternatives ready:
- your local ABC station;
- ABC.com or the ABC app with a verified participating-provider login; or
- another live-TV service that carries your local ABC affiliate.
This backup approach is particularly useful for a major live event, where a normal subscription does not necessarily protect you from a login failure, an affiliate restriction, or a platform scheduling error.
Watching the 2025 Oscars outside the United States
The ceremony was broadcast in more than 200 territories, but the U.S. Hulu and ABC instructions did not apply internationally. Rights were handled by local broadcasters and regional streaming services. Viewers outside the United States needed to use the Academy’s international listings or check the local broadcaster for their country.
A U.S. Hulu subscription was not a universal international solution, and access to ABC.com depended on U.S. provider and market rules. Regional rights may also determine whether a replay remains available.

Can you still watch the 2025 Oscars live?
No. The event ended on March 2, 2025. Any current availability is an on-demand replay or recorded coverage, if a platform still offers it, rather than a live broadcast. Hulu announced a full replay after the livestream problems, but catalog availability can change.
When searching for the ceremony now, look specifically for the full 97th Oscars replay. A clip, red-carpet program, highlights package, or awards recap is not the same as the complete telecast.
Common mistakes about the 2025 broadcast
| Incorrect assumption | What was actually true |
|---|---|
| Hulu + Live TV was required | The ceremony was promoted as streaming live directly on Hulu. Hulu + Live TV was a separate way to receive the ABC broadcast. |
| ABC.com worked without a login | The ABC stream required a participating TV-provider account and was limited to select markets. |
| YouTube carried the full Oscars for free | YouTube carried ABC News red-carpet coverage; it was not advertised as the complete main ceremony. |
| Every live-TV service carried ABC everywhere | Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV depended on local affiliate availability. |
| The red carpet and ceremony were one program | ABC’s official Oscars Red Carpet Show and ABC News’ On the Red Carpet at the Oscars were separate broadcasts. |

Did YouTube stream the complete 2025 Oscars ceremony?
No. YouTube carried ABC News’ red-carpet coverage, but the main ceremony was not advertised as a free full-length YouTube stream.
Can I watch the 2025 Oscars live now?
No. The ceremony has ended. You may still find an on-demand replay on Hulu or another authorized platform, depending on current availability.
The Bottom Line
The 2025 Oscars were available in the U.S. through Hulu, local ABC stations, authenticated ABC.com and ABC app streams, and live-TV services carrying the local ABC affiliate. The main ceremony was not the same as the widely distributed red-carpet coverage, and Hulu’s technical problems showed why a backup viewing method was sensible. Since the ceremony took place on March 2, 2025, current access means finding a replay—not watching it live.
