Watch Horizons after Ash’s farewell for release order, or start with it independently if you want a modern entry point. The official site presents Liko and Roy as its central trainers, with the Rising Volt Tacklers, the Explorers and Liko’s pendant mystery forming the early premise.

Where to watch in the United States
Start with Netflix, but expect gaps
Netflix is the most convenient single starting point in the U.S. catalog checked on August 18, 2026. Its Pokémon listings identify Indigo League, XY, the Journeys block, To Be a Pokémon Master and the currently listed Horizons entries. Catalogs are region-sensitive and can change, so check the live Netflix Pokémon page before subscribing. This selection does not establish that Netflix carries every Ash-era season.
Use the official availability guide for missing arcs
The Pokémon guide is the best current map of legal streaming, rental and digital-purchase options by region. If a subscription skips an arc, search digital storefronts for the exact English title; a Prime Video listing, for example, may offer individual episodes or seasons for purchase or rental, but a Prime membership does not automatically include all Pokémon episodes.
Pokémon TV has ended
The Pokémon TV app and service ended on March 28, 2024. Pokémon Support directs viewers to other distribution platforms and has not announced a replacement service. Avoid sites using the old Pokémon TV branding as a promise of official access.

Every animated production
This broadest scope also includes theatrical films, television specials, compilation films, music videos, promotional shorts and game-related projects. Keep these on separate release-order lists instead of forcing every title into the TV chronology.
Do the Pokémon movies need to be watched?
No. The movies are optional for understanding the main television route. If you want every theatrical film, watch them in theatrical release order as a separate track. Some films use alternate continuities or have ambiguous placement, so assigning each one to an exact episode position creates false precision. The official Pokémon viewing guide groups movies with other animation but does not require a mixed TV-and-film sequence.

Ash’s complete story
- Start with Indigo League.
- Continue through every title in the 27-title table.
- End with To Be a Pokémon Master.
- Begin Horizons afterward as the next era.
Fastest route to Ash’s ending
Watch Indigo League, sample the Orange Islands and Johto, then prioritize the major Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos and Alola arcs before watching all three Journeys blocks and To Be a Pokémon Master. This is a time-saving route, not a complete episode order.
Modern entry point
- Choose Horizons for a new cast and self-contained starting point.
- Choose Pokémon Journeys for Ash and Goh visiting multiple regions.
- Choose Indigo League for the original tone and characters.
Franchise completionist
Complete the mainline table, add the optional series and web shorts, then watch the movies and specials in their own theatrical or release-order lists. Check availability title by title rather than assuming one subscription covers everything.

“I cannot find the Orange Islands”
Search the full title, Pokémon the Series: Adventures in the Orange Islands. A service may package it without a numbered “season 2.”
“The platform jumps from Indigo League to XY”
That is a catalog gap, not an instruction to skip the intervening arcs. Use the official availability guide and digital purchase or rental listings to find them.

English distributors, Japanese broadcast groupings, Netflix parts, digital storefronts and fan databases use different numbering. Search by the exact English title and platform episode list.
English and Japanese episodes do not match
Distributors may omit, reorder, rename or package episodes differently, and some episodes were not initially broadcast in the United States. Use the platform’s list for playback and official Pokémon episode guides for identifying the story.
Language tracks vary
Japanese audio and subtitles must be checked title by title and region by region. Do not assume every English-market season includes the Japanese track.
