To run a continuous YouTube playlist stream with Upstream, upload your videos, add them to a playlist, select Loop Continuously, connect your YouTube channel, and start the stream or schedule it. Upstream says playback runs from its servers, so once the stream is running, your computer can be turned off.
Before you start
Prepare the video files you want to broadcast and make sure you have permission to use all video, music, images, and other material in them. A technical ability to loop a file does not grant content rights or guarantee that YouTube will allow or monetize the stream. Upstream’s FAQ explains the creator’s responsibility for rights and destination rules.
Upstream documents two ways to connect YouTube: YouTube Connect, which is its recommended and simpler route for YouTube, and manual RTMP setup through YouTube Studio. YouTube Connect requires granting requested account permissions; choose manual RTMP if you do not want to grant them.
Set up the playlist and connect YouTube
- Create a stream: In Upstream, create a new stream, select YouTube, then choose Connect with YouTube. Select the Google account and the specific YouTube channel you intend to use, then grant the requested permissions. If the account manages multiple channels, check the selected channel before continuing. Follow Upstream’s YouTube Connect setup guide.
- Add your media: Upload the prerecorded video files and add them to a video playlist. If your video already contains its audio, this is the direct option. Alternatively, Upstream supports a video or image background paired with a separate audio playlist; that audio list can play in order or be shuffled.
- Choose the playback behavior: Select Loop Continuously so the playlist begins again after its final item. Other playback and schedule choices can make a stream stop after one play or run for a set duration, so verify this setting for an all-day broadcast.
- Start or schedule: Start the stream manually, or configure a one-time, recurring, or back-to-back schedule. Upstream says to save a schedule made with YouTube Connect and let it start automatically. Its Quick Start Guide covers the overall setup.
Upstream says playlist edits can be published while a stream is live. Check that the intended media and order are in place before relying on a long-running schedule.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Use manual RTMP instead
Manual RTMP is the alternative when you prefer not to link YouTube through Upstream. It adds steps in YouTube Studio: create or schedule the receiving livestream, select the correct stream key, and configure start behavior.
- In YouTube Studio, create a livestream or schedule one using the Manage tab.
- Copy the correct stream key from YouTube Studio and enter it in Upstream’s manual RTMP setup. Treat the key as a credential; do not share it publicly.
- In YouTube Studio, enable Auto-start so the incoming Upstream feed can start the broadcast. If the Upstream schedule has an end time, enable Auto-stop as well.
- Save the schedule and confirm that the key and channel match the intended broadcast. Refer to Upstream’s scheduling instructions for its manual RTMP workflow.
Choose a schedule that matches the stream
Upstream documents one-time and recurring daily, weekly, and monthly schedules, as well as back-to-back cycles with pauses. For a repeating playlist, use Loop Continuously; Upstream says Play Once and End does not allow a scheduled end time. For one-time or recurring schedules, its controls include custom duration, a duration just under 12 hours, and ending at the total playlist duration.

Upstream describes the just-under-12-hour option as a way to make a livestream archivable. That is Upstream’s scheduling guidance, not a guarantee of YouTube archive behavior; verify YouTube’s current rules if an archive matters to you.
Test the broadcast before leaving it unattended
- Confirm that every intended file has uploaded and the playlist order and loop setting are correct.
- Check the selected YouTube channel and, for manual RTMP, confirm the stream key and Auto-start setting.
- Review the schedule’s start time, recurrence, duration, and end behavior.
- Run a private or unlisted test stream, as Upstream recommends, and verify that video and audio play as expected before using the public schedule.
After an Upstream stream has started, Upstream says its servers play the media, so your computer does not have to remain on. This describes the playback arrangement; it does not establish a guaranteed uptime or replace checking the stream’s status.

Understand Upstream’s free-plan limit
Upstream’s FAQ, accessed in 2026, describes its free plan as allowing 24 streaming hours per month for testing or shorter broadcasts. Upstream says a stream intended to run all month needs a paid plan with unlimited streaming hours. Confirm the current plan terms and price on Upstream before purchasing; the stated free allowance is not enough for uninterrupted month-long operation.
