For creator administration, use TikTok Studio for uploads, analytics, content and comment management. The browser experience is useful, but it does not reproduce every mobile camera, editing, messaging or regional feature.
Open TikTok on a computer
- Open an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari browser.
- Go to https://www.tiktok.com/.
- Select Log in and choose an offered method, such as phone, email, username or a third-party sign-in.
- Complete any verification or security prompt.
Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled for a complete signed-in experience. If the page looks incomplete, update the browser, refresh after logging in, or try a private window. TikTok documents browser access and interaction through its web experience at TikTok’s web-experience announcement. Avoid download sites offering unofficial “TikTok PC” installers; the website is sufficient for ordinary use.
What TikTok does on a PC
Viewing and discovery
- Browse the For You feed and profiles.
- Search accounts, hashtags, sounds and videos.
- Open comments, follow or unfollow creators, like posts and share links.
- Watch LIVE streams in the desktop player.
TikTok’s February 27, 2025 desktop update described a refreshed For You feed, Explore, full-screen LIVE viewing and a floating player: TikTok Newsroom. Tabs and controls can change by country, account, browser and rollout status.
Downloading videos
Saving another creator’s video is not guaranteed. TikTok’s guidance says downloads depend on whether the creator permits them: official download guidance. Do not use third-party downloaders to bypass that choice.

Upload a video from your PC
- Sign in at TikTok.com.
- Select Upload at the top of the page.
- Choose the finished video on your computer and wait for uploading and processing.
- Add or edit the caption and select a cover frame.
- Review audience visibility, comments and other settings shown for your account.
- Select Post, or save a draft if that option appears.
Keep an untouched local master until the post is confirmed. For browser uploads through TikTok Studio, TikTok currently lists MP4 or WebM, 720 × 1280 or higher, a maximum duration of 30 minutes and a file size of less than 10 GB. These are the requirements shown in TikTok’s creator-tools documentation and may change: TikTok creator tools. They should not be assumed to apply identically to every upload surface.
Use TikTok Studio for creator work
Open https://www.tiktok.com/tiktokstudio and sign in with the same account. The web dashboard can provide:
- Video uploading, editing and posting.
- Content and post management.
- Account and content-performance analytics.
- Recent-video previews.
- Comment review and management.
- Monetization-related performance areas where the account and region qualify.
TikTok states that Studio tools vary by app, browser, region and eligibility. A missing panel may therefore be a rollout or account-qualification issue rather than a broken installation. The feature list and availability notes are in TikTok’s Help Center.

Editing on the desktop
Studio can edit uploaded videos, but it is not a guaranteed replacement for the mobile creation workflow. Use a desktop editor for precise cuts, audio mixing, subtitles, color work or batch production, then review TikTok’s caption, cover, privacy, comment and sound settings before publishing. Effects, templates, sounds and camera controls can differ from the mobile app.
Business accounts: Web Business Suite
Business users can use TikTok’s Web Business Suite at https://ads.us.tiktok.com/business-suite (TikTok may redirect by account or region). TikTok documents browser areas for content, analytics, Creative Hub, Leads Manager, settings and support. Business Accounts may also have a post scheduler. Messages and LIVE on a PC
Direct messages
TikTok Studio does not provide direct messaging. TikTok’s Studio help page directs chat use to the TikTok app: TikTok Studio help. This does not establish that every web surface behaves identically, so check the controls available in your signed-in browser account; use the app when chats are unavailable.

Watching LIVE
Open a creator’s LIVE from the web interface and use full-screen mode when offered. If playback fails, check browser audio permissions, try a stable connection, and temporarily disable an aggressive ad-blocker or privacy extension. A wired connection can help with high-resolution streams.
Going LIVE from a computer
A PC is useful for gaming, webcam scenes and multi-source production, but desktop LIVE access is not universal. TikTok says LIVE tools are available only to creators who have access to LIVE; eligibility varies by region and account. Do not rely on a single follower or age number. Check the current official LIVE or Studio controls before installing any streaming software.

Troubleshoot common PC problems
The Upload button is missing
- Confirm you are signed in and maximize the browser window.
- Zoom out temporarily, then refresh.
- Open TikTok Studio directly.
- Try a private window or another current browser.
- Disable extensions one at a time.
- Clear TikTok site data only after confirming you know the login credentials.
The file is rejected or the upload stalls
- Check MP4/WebM format, the documented duration and the less-than-10-GB limit.
- Re-export as a standard H.264/AAC MP4.
- Rename the file with simple letters and numbers.
- Try another browser and a stable connection; leave the page open during processing.
- Inspect Studio’s content list for a pending or failed upload before creating a duplicate.
The video uploaded but is not visible
Allow processing time, then check Studio’s content-management area and the post’s privacy setting. If it remains absent, refresh, sign in again and check for an account or region-specific limitation.

No sound, effects or familiar tools
Browser and mobile catalogs are not guaranteed to match. Use only sounds and effects actually offered on the desktop surface, check permissions and extensions, and retain a clean local master so you can revise the post.
Protect the account
Use the official tiktok.com domain, a unique password or passkey where available, and two-step verification. Review trusted devices and connected applications, and sign out on shared computers. TikTok’s account guidance is indexed at the Help Center.
The Bottom Line
Use TikTok.com for watching, searching and straightforward uploads; open TikTok Studio for creator analytics, content and comments; and use Web Business Suite for business workflows. Keep the mobile app for camera-first creation, chats and any feature the desktop account does not expose.
