Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHandBrake can batch-encode videos in a folder, but its queue creates video files—it does not broadcast them to YouTube Live. Open a folder of single-title videos as a multi-title source, give each output a unique name, queue the titles, and encode them. To broadcast those videos, you need a separate live-encoder workflow or a cloud service that plays uploaded videos to YouTube.
What HandBrake’s queue does—and what it does not do
HandBrake’s queue lets you prepare multiple video encodes and process them in sequence. When you open a folder containing multiple single-title videos, HandBrake can treat it as one virtual source with multiple titles. Queuing those titles produces separate encoded files; it does not upload them or turn them into a YouTube Live broadcast.
For a live event, a separate encoder must send a live feed to YouTube. Its ingest settings—such as bitrate, codec and keyframe interval—are selected in that encoder, not by setting the bitrate of a HandBrake file.
Prepare the folder and prevent output-name collisions
Put the intended videos at the folder’s top level
Use a folder of multiple single-title video files. The folder-opening workflow does not apply to discs or disc-like sources, and HandBrake ignores files inside nested subfolders. Move the intended files to the selected folder’s top level, or process separate folders one at a time.

Choose an output folder and unique names
Before adding many jobs, set an output destination and make sure every job will have a distinct filename. HandBrake specifically advises including the title in the automatic naming format when queueing multiple titles. Without unique names, jobs can collide or make it difficult to identify the resulting files.
- Windows: Open Tools > Preferences > Output Files, enable automatic naming, set the default path, and include Title in the file format.
- macOS: In Preferences > General, configure automatic naming and include Title in the format.
HandBrake’s menu wording for adding multiple titles varies by operating system and version, so use the option described for your platform rather than assuming every installation has identical labels.

Queue and encode the folder
- Open the folder as a source. In HandBrake’s Open Source dialog, select the folder containing the video files. HandBrake should load it as a multi-title source.
- Select a title and preset. Choose a title, then pick a preset as a starting point. The Web Creator presets are intended for hosting sites such as YouTube and are generally aimed at high-quality output to reduce generational loss when a platform re-encodes a video.
- Check what the preset will change. Presets can limit frame rate or downscale resolution. Compare the selected preset’s output settings with the source, especially if the source is high-resolution or high-frame-rate.
- Set the output destination and filename. Confirm the destination and check that the automatic naming format includes the title so each queued job has a unique name.
- Add the title to the queue. The queue guide gives different multi-title commands by platform: on Windows, choose All Selection to Queue from Queue; on macOS, use Add Titles to Queue… from File; on Linux, use Add Multiple from Queue.
- Repeat for the titles you want. Inspect the pending jobs in the queue window. Remove or edit any incorrect job before starting.
- Start the queue. Let HandBrake finish the encodes, then check the output folder and open sample files to confirm the expected titles, image and audio.
Choose and check a preset before a large batch
There is no single ideal preset for every source. HandBrake’s general presets use MP4, while its Web Creator presets are specifically described as suitable for video-hosting services such as YouTube. The right choice depends on the source and how you plan to use the encoded files.
Use HandBrake’s Preview feature to encode a short portion and inspect the expected result before committing to a large batch. A preview helps reveal visible issues or unexpected preset changes, but it does not validate every title or test a separate live encoder’s settings.

For YouTube Live, configure the separate live encoder
If your goal is to broadcast rather than upload a finished file, configure the encoder that sends the live feed. YouTube’s live-encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS transport; H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1 video; up to 60 fps; constant bitrate (CBR); and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Its recommended keyframe interval is 2 seconds and must not exceed 4 seconds.
The live bitrate is not the bitrate of the HandBrake output file. It is a setting for the live feed and should be chosen for the encoder, selected codec and available upload capacity. YouTube’s recommendations below were checked on 2026-10-03; the live-settings page is maintained dynamically, and these are recommendations rather than universal requirements.

These figures apply to live ingest, not to a HandBrake intermediate or upload file. YouTube’s upload recommendations are a separate set of guidance: they list MP4, H.264 and AAC-LC, Opus or Eclipsa Audio, with variable-bitrate guidance. Do not transfer the live page’s CBR instruction to file encoding or treat upload-file settings as live-ingest settings.
Test the actual live setup
- Choose a resolution and frame rate that your encoder and connection can sustain reliably.
- Leave upload capacity in reserve. YouTube’s network tips recommend 20% bandwidth headroom; the page’s original publication year is not stated (checked 2026-10-03).
- Run a test before the broadcast with audio and representative movement in the video, then monitor YouTube’s stream-health information.
- Use the stream key supplied by YouTube in the separate live encoder. Do not put it in a public document or share it; it grants access to the broadcast configuration.
Copyright and monetization considerations
Encoding a video or scheduling it as a live stream does not establish that you have the rights to broadcast its footage, music or other material. Before streaming, confirm that you have the necessary rights and check YouTube’s applicable copyright and monetization policies. Re-encoding or looping content does not itself resolve rights or reused-content concerns.

Troubleshooting the folder queue and live handoff
- Only some files appear: Check whether the missing files are inside nested folders; the folder selector ignores those. Move them to the selected folder’s top level or queue that folder separately.
- A disc or disc-like source does not behave like a folder of videos: The multi-title folder workflow is intended for multiple single-title video files, not discs or disc-like sources. Open and process those sources using their applicable workflow instead.
- Queued jobs overwrite or are hard to distinguish: Set a deliberate output path and include the title in automatic filenames before adding multiple jobs.
- The output has a different resolution or frame rate than expected: Inspect the selected preset and output settings; presets can downscale resolution or impose a peak frame-rate limit.
- YouTube does not receive a live broadcast: HandBrake only creates files. Start and configure the separate live encoder, and confirm it is sending to YouTube using the correct stream key and ingest settings.
- The live stream is unstable: Test with representative audio and motion, check stream health, and lower the live output demands if the connection cannot sustain the selected settings with headroom.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the aim is to keep uploaded videos playing as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative to leaving a computer and live encoder running at home. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not broadcast from a camera.
- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs in the cloud, so your computer can be off.
- Each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required (one free day per account).
Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or the plans. Use the copyright safety checklist before streaming material you did not create. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
