To add a remote guest or a second camera angle, add a Collab Cam source in Streamlabs Desktop, start it, send the generated invite link, then review the incoming feed and select Show on Stream when you are ready. A phone or tablet can serve as the extra camera; it needs a camera, internet access and a browser.
Set up Collab Cam with a guest or second device
- In Streamlabs Desktop, find the Sources panel and add a new source.
- Choose Collab Cam and add it.
- Open the new Collab Cam source and select Start Collab Cam.
- Copy the generated invite link and send it privately to your guest. If you are using a phone or tablet as a second camera, open the link on that device instead.
- On the joining device, open the link in a browser, allow camera and microphone access as needed, choose the camera to share, and join.
- Check the incoming video and audio in Streamlabs Desktop. Select Show on Stream only when you want the feed included in the broadcast.
Streamlabs describes Collab Cam as a browser-based join flow; the remote device does not need a special app. Its published guidance does not give an exhaustive browser-compatibility list, so test the specific device and browser before a live show.
Choose the right setup for your production
| Use | Who controls the camera | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Remote guest | The guest | Confirm framing and audio with the guest before showing the feed. Agree on what they may discuss or display, since they are part of your broadcast. |
| Second camera angle | You or someone on your team | Position the phone or tablet for the shot you need, then check the preview in Desktop. A small tripod can keep the device hands-free; a stable improvised support, such as books, can also work. |
The current Collab Cam product page says one guest is free and Streamlabs Ultra supports up to 11 additional guests or camera angles. A Streamlabs Desktop support guide also contains an older four-guest figure, so the official pages conflict. If you need multiple feeds, confirm the current limit in the plan screen before buying.
Streamlabs lists Collab Cam for Streamlabs Desktop on Windows 10+ and macOS 12+. Its general system-requirements article gives conflicting operating-system statements, so those are the clearer published platform details for this feature. Streamlabs also recommends Ethernet and cites 3.6 Mbps or better upload for 720p at 30 fps for most platforms; that is general live-streaming guidance, not a Collab Cam-specific guarantee.

Protect the invite link and check audio before going live
- Send the invite only to people you trust. If the link may have been exposed, generate a new one to invalidate the old link.
- If you configure Collab Cam while live, do not reveal your screen with the invite link visible.
- Preview the guest feed before choosing Show on Stream.
- If you can hear the guest in Desktop but the audience cannot, Streamlabs suggests trying an additional microphone source. This is one possible audio-routing remedy, not a diagnosis for every audio problem.
- Guests are subject to the destination platform’s rules. Set expectations with them before broadcasting.
Troubleshoot common Collab Cam problems
| Symptom | What to try |
|---|---|
| The guest cannot join or the camera does not appear | Make sure the link was opened on a device with a camera, internet access and a browser. Ask the guest to grant camera permission, then check the incoming preview in Desktop. |
| The wrong camera is sharing | On the joining device, choose the intended camera and verify the feed in Desktop before showing it on stream. |
| The host hears the guest but viewers do not | Check the broadcast audio path. Streamlabs suggests trying an extra microphone source; verify the audience-facing audio before continuing. |
| The invite may have leaked | Generate a new Collab Cam link and share the replacement privately. Avoid displaying the link during a live screen share. |
| The phone angle is difficult to frame | Reposition the device and review its feed in Desktop. A phone tripod is convenient for hands-free placement but is not required. |
Streamlabs does not publish a Collab Cam-specific upload-speed threshold, latency guarantee or comprehensive audio troubleshooting procedure. If a feed remains unreliable after checking permissions, connection and selected camera, test with another browser-enabled device before relying on it for a live production.
Or let it run in the cloud
Collab Cam adds a guest or camera angle to a Streamlabs Desktop production. For a different need—keeping prerecorded video live on YouTube 24/7—StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
