To stream a mimoLive production to YouTube, copy the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room into mimoLive, start the encoder output, then—if the broadcast is scheduled—wait for YouTube’s preview and click Go live in Live Control Room. The encoder sends the video; YouTube’s control room publishes the scheduled event.
Before you start
- A Mac running mimoLive and a finished production layout.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours; after activation, YouTube says streaming can start instantly. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains activation and stream setup.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for your chosen video settings.
- If you are using an external camera, a compatible way to bring its signal into the Mac. A capture-device example in Boinx’s older event account is historical, not a current compatibility endorsement; confirm the device’s connectors, macOS support, camera signal, and mimoLive compatibility before buying. Boinx’s event account
Boinx listed mimoLive 6.18 as current and 6.19b4 as beta on October 3, 2026. Interface labels can change, so check the mimoLive version history for the latest release and instructions applicable to your version.
Create or select the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to open Live Control Room.
- Create a new stream or select the scheduled stream you intend to use. Check its title, privacy, and scheduling settings before the event.
- Open the stream settings and copy the stream URL and stream key. Use the RTMPS URL if you choose RTMPS in mimoLive. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, an owner or manager can reset it in YouTube’s stream settings. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
Enter the YouTube details in mimoLive
- In mimoLive, open the streaming output destination for your production. Choose a YouTube destination if your version offers one, or use the custom streaming-server settings if that is the route available in your setup.
- Enter the stream URL in the server or URL field and paste the stream key in the key field. Confirm that the selected protocol matches the URL: RTMP with an RTMP URL, or RTMPS with an RTMPS URL. Do not assume the two URLs are interchangeable.
- Set the output resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate to a combination YouTube accepts and your connection can sustain. The exact control names may differ by mimoLive version; use Boinx’s current version documentation if a label in your installation does not match.
- Save or apply the destination settings, then confirm the intended destination is selected for the program output.
Boinx’s published streaming workflow describes entering the key in stream settings, but its guide is historical. Confirm version-specific labels against Boinx’s current documentation and release information rather than assuming an older interface is unchanged. Boinx’s published workflow example
Choose encoder settings YouTube can receive
YouTube’s encoder guidance, checked October 3, 2026, lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, with frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. For stereo audio, its guidance is AAC or MP3 at 128 kbps and a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Check that your mimoLive output supports the protocol and codec you select, and match the stream to YouTube’s current ingest settings. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Use the bitrate for your chosen format
Bitrate depends on resolution, frame rate, and codec. As one specific example, YouTube’s H.264 table lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for both 720p30 and 720p60. These figures are not universal targets for other formats. Consult YouTube’s current table for the exact combination you plan to send.
Plan upload headroom rather than setting the encoder right at your measured maximum. Run an upload speed test at the venue, then test with representative motion and sound. A single speed test does not guarantee a stable event connection: monitor YouTube’s stream health and messages during the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring in its live-streaming tips.

A Boinx-published historical floorball event account described using a 2,500 kbps target and lowering bitrate when connectivity was poor. That was the setup for that event, not current general guidance; use YouTube’s current encoder table for your own stream. Boinx’s event account
Start the encoder and publish the broadcast
- Start the streaming output in mimoLive. Check that the program has picture and sound and that the selected destination is active.
- Open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, wait for YouTube’s incoming preview and check that it shows the intended picture and audio.
- When the preview is ready, click Go live in Live Control Room. Sending a feed from mimoLive and publishing a scheduled event are distinct actions in YouTube’s documented workflow. Auto-start may change that sequence only if it is supported and enabled for the stream.
- During the event, watch YouTube’s stream health and messages, and verify that audio and picture remain correct.
- At the end, end the broadcast in Live Control Room and stop the encoder output in mimoLive according to your event workflow. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; do not rely on automatic archiving for a longer stream. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
Troubleshooting
YouTube is not receiving a picture
- Check that the stream URL and key belong to the selected YouTube stream and were pasted into the right fields.
- Confirm mimoLive is sending to the destination you configured and that the streaming output has started.
- If using RTMPS, use the RTMPS URL shown in Live Control Room, not the ordinary RTMP URL.
The preview appears, but the scheduled event is not public
Confirm the event’s privacy and scheduling settings, then click Go live in Live Control Room. A preview means YouTube is receiving the feed; it does not by itself mean the scheduled broadcast has been published.

The stream is unstable or YouTube reports poor health
Test upload capacity again under event conditions. Reduce bitrate or resolution in line with YouTube’s current ingest guidance, then watch stream health for improvement. Avoid treating one speed-test result as proof that the connection will remain stable.
You need connection details for debugging
Boinx’s 6.19b4 beta notes say the Live Streaming output destination includes an RTMP connection log available with Show Log. This is beta-specific information, not a feature to assume exists in every stable release; check the version history for current release status. mimoLive version history

Test before the event
- Run a private or otherwise appropriate test stream before the scheduled production.
- Use representative movement, transitions, and sound; confirm YouTube receives both picture and audio.
- Test at the venue and at a time representative of the actual event, then monitor stream health during the real broadcast.
- If local recording is part of your production plan, verify that the recording is being made and that the resulting file is usable.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel playing uploaded recordings rather than a live mimoLive camera-and-graphics production, StreamNeo is a different workflow: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection staying on. It plays uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a live camera feed.
