How to Use Live3D for VTubing on Streamlabs Desktop

Set up VTuber Maker tracking, then test its current output options in Streamlabs Desktop. Live3D Spout2 support and a guaranteed transparent avatar feed are not established.

You can animate a Live3D VTuber avatar and build a Streamlabs Desktop scene, but the exact way to bring the avatar into Streamlabs depends on the output options in your current Live3D VTuber Maker app. Streamlabs’ documented Spout2 workflow names VTube Studio and VSeeFace—not Live3D—so do not assume Live3D sends a compatible Spout2 feed. Start by checking whether VTuber Maker offers a virtual camera or another supported output; if it does not, test Streamlabs’ general capture sources and confirm what they actually capture before going live.

What Live3D and Streamlabs each do

Streamlabs describes Live3D as a VTuber tool suite and VTuber Maker as face-tracking software. VTuber Maker displays and tracks an avatar; despite the app’s name, it does not create avatars. The Streamlabs overview describes selecting an avatar and a background, previewing webcam tracking, and using features such as quick actions and a whiteboard. Those interface details come from a March 6, 2023 article, so labels and onboarding may have changed since then. Streamlabs’ Live3D overview

Streamlabs Desktop is where you assemble a scene and add sources such as a camera, window, game, or screen capture. The key practical question is how VTuber Maker outputs its tracked avatar: the available documentation does not establish that it currently provides a virtual camera or a Spout2 sender.

Set up tracking in VTuber Maker

  1. Download and open VTuber Maker from the Live3D site. Streamlabs’ 2023 walkthrough says to create an account, verify the email, and sign in. Because that walkthrough is dated, follow the current app’s onboarding if those steps or labels differ.
  2. Select an avatar and choose a room or background in the app. The 2023 overview describes free and paid avatar and background options, but its counts and plan details should not be treated as current.
  3. Enable webcam-based face tracking. Check the webcam preview and the red tracking indicators described in the walkthrough; use the camera icon to calibrate if the current interface offers it.
  4. Move your head and make expressions while watching the avatar. Confirm tracking is active and that the intended camera is selected before setting up capture in Streamlabs.

The cited overview does not establish current camera resolution, frame rate, or hardware requirements. If tracking is unreliable, check VTuber Maker’s current camera selection and permissions, then confirm that another app is not monopolizing the webcam.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Check how VTuber Maker can output its avatar

Before adding a capture source, inspect the current VTuber Maker settings and menus for an explicit virtual-camera, Spout2, or other output option. The available documentation does not confirm that any of these is offered. If you find one, use its own instructions and then select the corresponding source in Streamlabs; verify the result in the preview rather than assuming it carries a clean avatar-only image or transparency.

Streamlabs’ Spout2 instructions document a workflow for VTube Studio and VSeeFace. They do not name Live3D VTuber Maker as a supported sender, so that procedure is not proof of Live3D compatibility. Streamlabs’ Spout2 guide

Add the available output to a Streamlabs scene

  1. Open Streamlabs Desktop and create or select the scene for your VTuber stream.
  2. Use the Sources panel’s add-source control to add the type that matches the output you found: a camera source for a virtual camera, or an appropriate window, game, or screen capture for a visible app window. Streamlabs documents these general source categories, but not a guaranteed Live3D-specific capture method. Streamlabs’ camera and capture-source guidance
  3. Choose the relevant device or app/window in the source properties. If you use general capture, check whether it captures only the avatar or the entire VTuber Maker interface, including menus and controls.
  4. Arrange the avatar in the scene and check its background. The available documentation does not establish that general capture preserves transparency from VTuber Maker; if the background is visible, do not describe the result as a transparent avatar feed.
  5. Add and configure your microphone and any other audio sources using Streamlabs’ current audio controls. Speak and monitor the preview to ensure the expected microphone is active and not doubled by another source.
  6. Preview the full scene before streaming or recording. Check framing, tracking, background, audio levels, and whether app controls or duplicate images appear.

What capture methods are—and are not—confirmed

Route Confirmed for Live3D? What to verify
Virtual camera output Not established by the available documentation Whether the current VTuber Maker offers it and Streamlabs can select it as a camera source.
Spout2 Not documented for Live3D; Streamlabs’ guide names VTube Studio and VSeeFace Do not assume VTuber Maker is a Spout2 sender. Verify an explicit current Live3D output option first.
Window, game, or screen capture These are general Streamlabs source categories, not a confirmed Live3D avatar-only method Whether the source captures the avatar, the whole app, and the background; test transparency rather than assuming it.

Troubleshoot the preview before going live

  • The avatar does not appear: Confirm tracking is active in VTuber Maker, then check that the source in Streamlabs points to the actual output or running window. Reopen the source properties and select the correct device or window.
  • The whole app appears instead of just the avatar: That can happen with general window or screen capture. Look for an explicit avatar output in VTuber Maker; otherwise, crop or frame the capture only if that produces an acceptable scene, and avoid claiming it is a clean transparent feed.
  • The avatar appears twice: Inspect the scene for overlapping capture sources and disable the duplicate. Streamlabs gives duplicate-capture advice for its documented Spout2 apps, but that advice does not establish a Live3D-specific fix.
  • The face does not track: Check the selected webcam and app camera permission, ensure the camera preview is active, and recalibrate with the camera icon if available.
  • The Spout2 sender is missing: Streamlabs advises checking that both apps are running and relaunching them for its documented Spout2 setup. This troubleshooting applies to the Spout2 apps in that guide; Live3D compatibility remains unconfirmed.
  • The scene shows the wrong camera: Reopen the camera source properties and select the intended device. Streamlabs’ camera setup documentation covers adding and configuring a camera source.
  • The result changes after an app update: Recheck VTuber Maker’s output options and Streamlabs’ source properties. The documented Live3D walkthrough dates to 2023, and current compatibility is not established here.

Prepare the broadcast responsibly

Test the final scene before starting a public stream. Use an avatar, background, music, and other assets you have permission to use on YouTube, and check the applicable rights and platform policies. A VTuber setup does not itself grant rights to third-party material. If you use a background or audio source, confirm it is not unintentionally captured twice and that your microphone remains intelligible.
