How to Use FFmpeg to Stream Recorded Hindi Classes 24/7 on YouTube

Use FFmpeg’s indefinite input loop to stream recorded Hindi classes to YouTube Live, then plan for stream health, recovery, rights, and replay limits.

To loop a recorded Hindi class into YouTube Live, run FFmpeg on an always-on computer or server with -stream_loop -1 before the input file, then send the encoded output to the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. The loop repeats the recording; it does not guarantee uninterrupted service. You still need to plan for network failures, process restarts, stream health, rights, and YouTube’s archive limits.

What you need before starting

  • A computer or server that can remain on, with enough CPU capacity for encoding and sustained upload bandwidth for the selected stream settings.
  • A current FFmpeg build from a trusted distribution source.
  • A recording with compatible video and audio streams. Use ffprobe to inspect the file before sending it live.
  • A YouTube encoder stream and its stream URL and stream key, available in YouTube Studio.
  • Permission for all material in the recording, including appearances, slides, book pages, music, and embedded video.

Hindi itself does not require special FFmpeg streaming settings. The relevant factors are the file’s codecs, resolution, frame rate, audio, and your connection. If the lesson uses Devanagari titles or overlays, check that your chosen font and rendering workflow display them correctly.

Inspect the recording and protect your key

Use ffprobe to check the streams in the source file:

ffprobe -hide_banner -i "class.mp4"

Confirm that the file contains the video and audio you expect, and note its resolution, frame rate, and codecs. The example below assumes an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. If there is no audio stream, do not assume an audio-less feed will be accepted or behave as intended; add a deliberate audio stream and verify the result in Live Control Room.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Treat the YouTube stream key as a password. Do not expose it in a public repository, screenshot, or shared log. If it is compromised, reset it through Live Control Room.

Configure YouTube Live

  1. In YouTube Studio, create or select an encoder stream and copy the exact stream URL and stream key.
  2. Choose a quality your connection can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMP or RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS when the encoder and endpoint support it. Its encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, plus AAC or MP3 audio; use a codec supported by your FFmpeg build and selected workflow. YouTube’s encoder settings
  3. Set rate control to CBR and use a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. The appropriate bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate. For H.264, YouTube’s current table gives 4 Mbps for 720p30, 14 Mbps for 1080p30, and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. Check the current table for the exact combination you intend to stream rather than extrapolating between rows.
  4. For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 kbps audio bitrate. Test the actual lesson’s speech and any other audio for intelligibility.

The settings below are an illustrative starting point, not a tested configuration or a universal bitrate prescription. The sample uses 30 fps, so -g 60 creates a two-second GOP at that frame rate; if you change the frame rate, recalculate the GOP size to preserve the intended keyframe interval.

Start an indefinite FFmpeg loop

Replace the destination with the exact YouTube stream URL and key shown for your encoder stream. Prefer the RTMPS endpoint when supported. Choose a bitrate from YouTube’s current settings table for your codec, resolution, and frame rate, and leave upload headroom for a stable connection.

ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "class.mp4"
  -c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p
  -r 30 -g 60 -b:v 4500k -maxrate 4500k -bufsize 9000k
  -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
  -f flv "rtmp://YOUR_SERVER_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"

-stream_loop -1 makes FFmpeg repeat the input indefinitely, and it must appear before the -i option for the input it applies to. -re reads the file at its native rate rather than sending it as fast as possible. The example encodes video as H.264 and audio as AAC for an FLV output. FFmpeg’s documentation describes the loop option and additional output mechanisms. FFmpeg documentation

The sample’s 4,500 kbps video setting is not a YouTube-wide recommendation. In particular, it does not match YouTube’s listed H.264 recommendation for 1080p30. Set -b:v and -maxrate to the applicable current table value, then adjust -bufsize as appropriate for the encoder workflow. If the input codecs, timestamps, and output requirements are already suitable, stream-copying may reduce CPU use, but looping can reveal timestamp or codec problems. Validate any copy-based command in a private or unlisted test before relying on it.

Test the feed before making it public

  1. Start FFmpeg and wait for YouTube’s incoming preview and stream health indicators in Live Control Room.
  2. Start the event in Live Control Room if the selected stream settings require it.
  3. Watch and listen to a representative section, including lesson transitions and any motion or overlays. Check that audio and video remain in sync and that text displays correctly.
  4. Test playback on the devices your intended audience uses, and run an unlisted test before public operation. YouTube explicitly advises testing before going live. Encoder settings and testing guidance

Keep a 24/7 stream operating

An indefinite media loop is not the same as guaranteed 24/7 availability. FFmpeg, the host, the network, or YouTube ingest can fail. YouTube’s setup guidance does not promise uninterrupted operation, so plan monitoring and recovery for the machine and connection you actually use.

Choose where FFmpeg runs

Approach What to plan for
Local computer Keep the machine powered on, prevent sleep, maintain a stable upload connection, and preserve access to the source file. You control local storage and hardware, but outages at home or a restart can stop the feed.
Hosted VPS or dedicated server Confirm the host can sustain the required upload and encoding workload, and plan for storage, backups, key security, updates, monitoring, and restart behavior. Hosting is an optional operational choice, not a YouTube requirement.

Keep a local copy of important recordings and consider a local archive of the outgoing content. A supervisor can restart a crashed FFmpeg process, but restart behavior should be designed and tested; reconnecting may create a new YouTube event depending on the stream configuration.

Recover from a temporary network failure

FFmpeg documents a FIFO output example using -attempt_recovery 1 and -recovery_wait_time 1 to retry after a temporary network failure. This is a recovery mechanism, not a promise of an uninterrupted feed. Test it with your output setup and confirm what viewers see during a failure and reconnect.

Plan replays separately from continuous availability

YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be archived automatically; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. A feed that stays live therefore may not produce a complete replay. If each class needs a dependable replay, plan shorter sessions under YouTube’s documented threshold, create separate events as appropriate, and keep a local recording as backup. YouTube live stream archiving guidance and DVR guidance

Rights and YouTube policy checks

YouTube’s livestream terms require compliance with its Community Guidelines and say the content provider warrants having the necessary rights for worldwide use of live and archived content, including music licensing rights. Educational use does not automatically clear copyright. Check permissions for teachers and students who appear, course slides, textbook pages, embedded clips, and background music before streaming. Troubleshoot common failures

Symptom Likely cause What to check
YouTube receives no video Incorrect stream URL or key, an encoder that has not connected, or an incompatible output setup. Copy the current URL and key from the selected YouTube encoder stream, check FFmpeg’s output messages, and confirm the incoming preview in Live Control Room.
Stream health is poor or playback buffers Insufficient sustained upload bandwidth, unstable connectivity, or a bitrate too high for the connection. Use YouTube’s bitrate row for the exact codec, resolution, and frame rate; lower the output quality if needed and test again with upload headroom.
Video works but sound is missing The file has no audio stream, the wrong stream was selected, or the output audio configuration is unsuitable. Inspect the source with ffprobe, ensure an audio stream is deliberately included, and verify sound in the Live Control Room preview.
FFmpeg stops at the end of the file The loop option is missing, is placed after the input it should affect, or is not set to loop indefinitely. Put -stream_loop -1 before that input’s -i option and inspect the process output.
Reconnects show timestamp errors or fail The input’s timestamps or codecs may not behave cleanly across loops, or recovery/restart behavior may not match the stream configuration. Test the file and recovery settings privately; if necessary, re-encode instead of stream-copying and verify the resulting event behavior.
A long-running stream has no complete replay The event exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour archive guidance threshold. Use shorter planned sessions and retain a local recording when a complete replay matters.
