To loop a meditation video on YouTube Live around the clock, run an encoder such as FFmpeg on an always-on cloud virtual machine (VM), give it access to your video, and send its output to YouTube using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. The VM keeps the encoder running without leaving a home computer on, but you are responsible for configuring and monitoring the stream.
How the setup works
YouTube receives a live feed from an encoder; it does not loop a file on your cloud server by itself. The basic chain is a cloud VM, your video and any accompanying audio, encoder software such as FFmpeg, and a YouTube Live stream configured in Studio. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming.
This guide uses RTMP/RTMPS as the general ingest approach. YouTube also documents HLS and DASH, but those protocols have their own encoder requirements; do not mix their settings into an RTMP setup. See YouTube’s RTMPS ingestion documentation, along with its separate HLS and DASH guides.
Before you start
- A cloud VM: Choose an operating system and capacity suitable for your encoder and source video. Compare the provider’s current VM, storage, and network-transfer charges; this guide does not assume a particular provider or price.
- Media accessible to the VM: Upload the meditation video to the server or otherwise make the file available to it. Include audio in the video or provide a separate audio file.
- Permission to broadcast: Make sure you have the necessary rights to the video, music, and other audio. No blanket copyright or YouTube-policy conclusion applies to every recording.
- YouTube Live access: If you have never enabled live streaming on the channel, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Allow time for this before a planned launch.
- A private stream key: Treat it like a password. Never paste a real key into public code, a public repository, or a screenshot.
Set up the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream in Live Control Room. If live streaming is not enabled, complete the requested activation steps and wait for access.
- Open the stream’s settings and copy the server URL and stream key. Keep the key private; you will enter it into the encoder on the VM.
- Choose the ingest protocol supported by your encoder configuration. For a basic FFmpeg workflow, use the RTMP/RTMPS details shown for the stream rather than assuming a URL or protocol from an unrelated tutorial.
- Start the encoder and check Live Control Room. YouTube says the watch page is created when the encoder starts sending. Confirm that the incoming picture and sound are correct before sharing the page.
YouTube’s setup guidance is at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. Exact interface labels can change, so follow the current stream settings shown in Studio.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Run a loop with FFmpeg on the VM
An Ubuntu VPS running FFmpeg is one possible self-managed arrangement. A community example describes looping local video and audio files and sending them to YouTube; it is an implementation example, not official YouTube guidance or evidence of a particular uptime. Review its approach at the repository’s 24/7 YouTube stream setup notes.
The precise FFmpeg command depends on your media, installed FFmpeg build, and the ingest details YouTube provides for your stream. Do not copy a random command or fixed bitrate as though it were universal. Configure the encoder for H.264 video and AAC audio: YouTube identifies those formats in its guidance for resolving an incorrect-format error. Choose resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe settings based on the source and current YouTube requirements, then check the live preview and stream health rather than relying on settings from a different workflow.

- Install and verify FFmpeg on the VM using the instructions for its operating system. Place the media in a known directory and check that the FFmpeg process can read it.
- Configure the input to repeat the video (and audio, if separate) and the output to use the stream’s current YouTube ingest URL and private key. Keep credentials out of scripts committed to public repositories and out of logs or screenshots you share.
- Set the output encoding to H.264 video and AAC audio, and select stream parameters appropriate to the media and YouTube’s current encoder guidance. The correct bitrate is not established by a universal number in the cited material.
- Start FFmpeg in a way that remains running after your terminal session ends, and arrange for it to start again after a VM reboot. These are server-administration tasks; the exact service manager or process supervisor depends on the VM’s operating system.
- Watch the Live Control Room health indicator after startup. YouTube reports stream errors there, with critical and moderate categories. Resolve warnings and verify the image, audio, and looping behavior before leaving the server unattended.
What 24/7 means for the broadcast and archive
A VM can keep an encoder running, but that does not guarantee uninterrupted delivery: the VM, network path, encoder process, or YouTube ingest can fail. Monitoring and a restart plan are part of operating a self-managed stream. YouTube documents a limit on the number of live streams a channel can create in a 24-hour period, but the cited error guidance does not state the numeric limit; check the current message in Studio rather than relying on an assumed number.
Continuous broadcasting and a complete archive are separate matters. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one broadcast lasting 24 hours or more will be preserved as a complete recording. If you need a full-day recording, plan a separate recording or archiving workflow and verify its result.

Secure and maintain the stream
- Restrict access to the VM and its media directory to the people who need it.
- Store the stream key in a private configuration or secret store rather than embedding it in public source code.
- Check the Live Control Room health indicator and listen to the live audio after launch; a running encoder process alone does not prove that YouTube is receiving usable media.
- Review the stream after VM restarts or changes to the video, audio, encoder, or ingest settings.
- Keep a local copy of the source media and a record of the configuration, without exposing the stream key.
Cloud VM or hosted streaming service?
A self-managed VM gives you control over the server and loop process, but you must configure, monitor, and restart the software as needed. A hosted prerecorded-video service can reduce server administration. YouTube Help names Gyre as an example of a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video; that mention is not an endorsement or a comparison, and current pricing and limits are not established here. Before choosing any hosted option, compare current costs, bandwidth charges, media upload and looping behavior, recovery and monitoring, log access, stream-key handling, supported formats, and documented limits.
