You can update an active YouTube podcast livestream’s title and other available details in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Select the current stream, open its Edit or details controls, make the change, and save—without stopping the encoder or choosing End Stream. YouTube explicitly confirms live setting changes for webcam streams; for encoder streams, the editing location is documented, but not every field’s availability while live is guaranteed.
Change stream details while the broadcast is live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live to open the Live Control Room. Select the active podcast stream—not a scheduled event or an archived broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming guide describes opening the control room.
- Open Edit or the current stream’s details/settings panel. The exact placement of controls can vary as Studio’s interface changes.
- Update the title or other field that is available, then save.
- Leave the webcam or encoder session running. Do not select End Stream to make a metadata change.
YouTube manages event details in Studio; the encoder sends the audio and video feed using the stream URL and key. A routine title or description correction does not require changing either connection setting. See YouTube Help’s Manage live stream settings and encoder setup instructions.
What you can edit depends on how the podcast is streaming
Webcam stream
For streams created through YouTube’s webcam workflow, YouTube Help says settings such as tags, monetization, and chat settings can be changed through Edit “at any time, whether your stream is live or not.” That is explicit support for changing those management settings during a live webcam broadcast; it should not be read as a guarantee that every possible field or control is editable. See Create a live stream via webcam.
Encoder or mobile stream
YouTube’s instructions place metadata editing in the stream settings page or the scheduling workflow. They do not explicitly promise that every metadata field remains editable after an encoder stream is live. Open the active event’s Edit/details panel and use the fields Studio makes available. If a field is missing or disabled, do not assume ending the stream will make it editable.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the Edit control or field is unavailable
- Confirm you selected the current active event, rather than a scheduled stream or an archived video.
- Refresh YouTube Studio and reopen the active stream’s details.
- Check whether the specific field is available for this stream type and current event state. YouTube’s instructions do not establish live editing for every field across every setup.
- If it remains unavailable, keep the broadcast running and record the limitation rather than ending the event as an assumed workaround.
Do not end the stream just to change its title
Ending is a separate broadcast action: for an encoder stream, YouTube describes stopping the encoder’s content feed and ending the broadcast in Live Control Room. Keep the feed running for a metadata edit. Separately, YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured; this is an archiving consideration, not a requirement for changing details. See Archive live streams.

If your podcast format uses uploaded recordings rather than a live camera feed, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays your uploads rather than broadcasting a camera. Every slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
