Connect your Android phone to the PC with a USB cable that supports data transfer, unlock the phone, select file transfer if prompted, and copy the video into a folder on the PC. A supported wireless option is Google Quick Share for Windows. Once the file is on the PC, decide whether you want to upload it as a regular YouTube video or use it as part of an encoder-based live stream; those are separate workflows.
Transfer the video from Android to a Windows PC
Android menus and USB options vary by phone maker and Android version. These general steps follow Google’s Android file-transfer guidance; if your phone’s prompts differ, check the handset maker’s instructions.
- Check the cable. Use a cable that supports data, not one that only charges. Confirm that its connectors fit both the phone and PC.
- Connect and unlock the phone. Keep the phone unlocked while establishing the connection.
- Select file transfer if prompted. Tap the USB notification or connection prompt and choose the file-transfer option, often labeled “File transfer” or “MTP.” The exact wording may differ.
- Copy the file. In Windows File Explorer, open the phone’s storage, find the encoded video, and copy it to a folder on the PC. Wait for the copy to finish before disconnecting.
- Check the copy. Open the file on the PC and confirm that the video and audio play before relying on it for an upload or live event.
Transfer wirelessly to Windows
Google Quick Share
Quick Share is an alternative when you do not want to connect a cable. Google says it is already installed on Android 6 and later. Its Windows app supports 64-bit Windows 10 and later; ARM-based PCs require Windows 11 or later. Google’s app is intended for non-Samsung PCs; Samsung PC owners should use Samsung’s Quick Share app. See Google’s Quick Share guidance for requirements and setup details.
- Install the appropriate Quick Share app on the Windows PC and set the PC’s visibility as desired.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the PC.
- On Android, select the video and choose Quick Share, then select the PC as the destination and accept the transfer if asked.
- Confirm the received file is present and plays on the PC.
Phone Link
Microsoft also documents cable-free content transfer between Android and Windows through Phone Link and Link to Windows. Setup and feature availability can depend on the devices and installed software; see Microsoft’s Phone Link transfer instructions.

No universal speed ranking follows from these options: transfer rates depend on the phone, cable, ports, PC, and wireless environment. The official guidance cited here does not establish India-specific transfer speeds.
Choose what you want to do with the video on YouTube
Publish it as a regular video
In YouTube Studio, use the video-upload flow to select the file on the PC and follow the prompts. YouTube’s upload instructions cover the publishing workflow. Its recommended upload encoding settings list MP4 with H.264 video and supported audio choices including AAC-LC. Treat these as upload guidance, not as a universal requirement for every encoder or live setup.

Use it in a live stream
A live stream sends a feed from streaming software or hardware to YouTube’s server using the server URL and stream key. An encoder converts the video feed into a digital format for streaming. A video file on your PC is not, by itself, a live broadcast: use an encoder workflow that can play or otherwise feed that file into the stream. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains how to create the stream and connect an encoder. The exact file-playback procedure depends on the encoder you choose, so verify its supported formats and test it in advance.
- In YouTube Studio, set up the live stream and obtain the stream key and server URL using YouTube’s encoder instructions.
- In your encoder, configure the stream destination with YouTube’s server details and stream key. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Load or play the copied video through the encoder’s supported file-playback workflow. Check the encoder’s documentation for the relevant controls and accepted formats.
- Preview the stream in YouTube Studio, check picture and sound, and run a test before the event. YouTube recommends configuring the encoder ahead of time and monitoring the preview; see its live streaming tips.
YouTube’s general encoder guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming basics and the encoder guide for current eligibility and setup steps. Do not confuse this desktop encoder workflow with mobile live streaming: YouTube’s mobile page lists a 50-subscriber threshold and other mobile-specific conditions (mobile live-streaming requirements).

Check format and rights before the stream
Confirm the actual file format
“Encoded” does not identify one specific container or codec. Check the file’s container, video and audio codecs, frame rate, and color format against the player or encoder you plan to use. A short test on the PC can reveal compatibility issues before a scheduled stream. YouTube’s upload recommendations apply to regular uploads; they do not guarantee that every live encoder will accept a particular file.
HDR is a specific case
YouTube says HDR live streaming currently requires H.265/HEVC and a compatible encoder. This HDR condition does not mean ordinary SDR files must be converted to HEVC. Consult YouTube’s HDR live-streaming guidance if you intend to broadcast HDR.

Check permission to use the material
Before uploading or broadcasting, make sure you have the rights needed for the video and its audio, including music, archive footage, and other material you did not create. A file playing correctly does not establish that you may publish it. Review YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream policies before the event.

- The phone only charges and does not appear in File Explorer: try a known data-capable cable and another PC port, unlock the phone, and select file transfer/MTP from the USB prompt. If the phone’s menu differs, consult its maker’s instructions.
- Quick Share cannot find the PC: verify the Windows app and operating-system requirements, turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the PC, and check its visibility setting. Samsung PC owners should use Samsung’s Quick Share app rather than Google’s Windows app.
- Phone Link transfer is unavailable: check whether both devices and their installed apps support the feature and are configured for it; Microsoft’s transfer feature is not established for every device combination.
- The file copied but will not play in the encoder: inspect the file’s actual container, codecs, frame rate, and color format, then check the encoder’s supported inputs. Test another compatible sample or use a workflow the encoder supports; do not assume the word “encoded” guarantees compatibility.
- The encoder connects but the YouTube preview is missing or wrong: confirm the selected stream, server details, and private stream key; check that the file is actually being played into the encoder and that audio and video are active. Use Studio’s preview and run a test stream before the event.
- The channel cannot start an encoder stream: check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction has applied within the previous 90 days. Mobile-live subscriber requirements are separate and do not define desktop encoder eligibility.
