YouTube Studio manages the scheduled broadcast, but it does not automatically synchronize the encoder settings or local schedules on two streaming PCs. Schedule or select the event in Studio, then check the stream destination and key on whichever PC will transmit. To move OBS output settings between computers, export and import an OBS Profile; transfer Scene Collections separately.
What “syncing” means in a two-PC setup
YouTube treats the scheduled broadcast and the encoder’s incoming stream as related but distinct resources. A broadcast is the YouTube event; a stream is the ingest configuration that carries audio and video and defines streaming settings. Google for Developers explains the distinction in its YouTube Live Streaming API resource documentation and guide to broadcasts and streams.
That resource model does not synchronize two computers’ local OBS schedules, profiles, or scenes. YouTube Studio is where you schedule the event; each encoder that may transmit needs to be pointed at the intended YouTube stream and key. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe copying the stream URL and key into the encoder.
Set up the event and both PCs
- Schedule or select the event in YouTube Studio. Verify the title, date and time, visibility, and other event details. If the broadcast already exists, confirm that you have selected the intended event rather than creating a duplicate.
- Choose how the PCs will be used. If they are alternatives for the same event, check that each is configured for the intended YouTube stream. If they will run recurring events at different times, Google documents reusing one stream configuration; recurring broadcasts that may overlap or need different encoder settings can use separate stream configurations. This is a choice about YouTube’s resources, not a feature that copies settings between computers.
- Check the encoder destination on each PC. In the encoder’s stream settings, confirm the correct YouTube stream URL and key, and confirm that the stream is associated with the intended event. Treat stream keys as credentials: do not share or publish them. Follow YouTube’s current encoder workflow when copying them.
- If you use OBS, transfer the Profile separately. On the source PC, export the Profile that contains the relevant Stream, Video, and Output settings; import that Profile on the other OBS installation. OBS documents Profile export and import as JSON. Its Profiles page explicitly notes that Profiles do not store Scenes: use Scene Collections to move those separately. See OBS Profiles.
- Before transmission, verify the active event and destination. On the PC that will actually send video, check both the selected event in Studio and the encoder’s destination. If automatic start or stop is enabled, verify the event’s controls in Studio rather than assuming that the encoder’s behavior will match another event’s settings. Google’s LiveBroadcasts API reference describes automatic start when video begins on the bound stream and automatic stop around one minute after streaming stops; confirm the behavior for the broadcast you are using.
Can both PCs use the same scheduled YouTube stream?
The key question is whether they are alternates or simultaneous encoders. YouTube’s documentation supports reusing a stream for broadcasts at different times and describes separate stream resources as useful for recurring broadcasts that may overlap or require different settings. It does not establish that two PCs can safely transmit to the same event at the same time, nor does it make their encoder configurations synchronize. Use the intended event and stream association in Studio and avoid treating the two PCs as a coordinated failover system unless your setup has been deliberately arranged for that purpose.

Move OBS settings without confusing Profiles and scenes
An OBS Profile is useful for carrying encoder-related configuration between PCs. OBS says Profiles contain Stream, Video, and Output settings, and can be exported or imported as JSON. Scenes and sources are separate: use a Scene Collection when those need to match on the second computer. A USB drive is one way to carry the exported file, but cloud or network transfer can also move it; the file transfer itself does not sync the YouTube event or key.
Troubleshoot the common two-PC failures
- The encoder is live, but the wrong event is receiving video: Check the selected broadcast and the stream association in YouTube Studio, then verify the URL and key in the encoder on the transmitting PC.
- The second PC has different output settings: Export the appropriate OBS Profile from the source PC and import it on the other. Transfer the Scene Collection separately if its scenes or sources are also needed.
- The stream drops frames on one PC: Diagnose that PC’s upload connection and configured bitrate independently. OBS streams directly to the service, and an unstable connection or one that cannot sustain the set bitrate can cause dropped frames. See the OBS Help Portal guidance on dropped frames.
- The broadcast does not start or stop as expected: Check the event’s Studio controls and whether automatic start/stop is enabled for it. Do not assume those settings are synchronized merely because the PCs use the same channel.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube playlist running rather than coordinate two local encoders, StreamNeo is a cloud service for uploaded videos and YouTube streams. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams uploaded files as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start a free day at StreamNeo registration.
