For a simple two-person livestream, use YouTube’s Go live together feature: the host invites a guest with a link, the guest joins a waiting room, and the host adds them to the broadcast. Only one guest can appear at a time. If several people need to be visible simultaneously, combine them into one outgoing program feed with production software and an encoder, or use an eligible Google Meet livestream.
Choose the right way to bring people on stream

These are distinct workflows. Choose based on how many people must be on screen at once, how much control the producer needs over audio and scenes, account eligibility, and how much setup the event can accommodate.
How to livestream with a guest using Go live together
The built-in feature is the most direct choice for a host and one guest who can join on a mobile device. You do not need to assemble a separate encoder production for this workflow.
- Start or schedule the broadcast. On a mobile device, start a new livestream and enable Go live together. Alternatively, schedule the stream on a computer in Live Control Room, then start it from a phone.
- Invite the guest. Create an invitation link and send it to the guest.
- Have the guest join. The guest opens the link on a mobile device, selects a YouTube channel, and enters the waiting room.
- Check audio and video. The guest can check their audio and video while waiting.
- Add the guest to the stream. The host receives a notification and adds the guest. The host can do this while starting or continuing the broadcast.
- Remove or rotate guests as needed. The host can remove a guest and invite another; only one guest is shown on the stream at a time.
The host is responsible for the broadcast and its guests. YouTube Help states: “The host channel is responsible for the live content and should make sure that all guests and content will comply with our YouTube terms, including our Community Guidelines, copyright policy and all other applicable policies.”

How to show several people at once
Use a streaming encoder and production setup
When a documentary discussion, panel or interview needs multiple remote participants on screen at the same time, the participants must be combined into one program feed before it reaches YouTube. A production setup can bring together participant video and audio, then send that finished feed through an encoder. The exact steps for bringing guests into the production depend on the production software and how participants connect. Plan who will manage the combined feed, participant audio, scene changes and the encoder; the native Go live together link does not provide a simultaneous multi-guest layout.
Broadcast a Google Meet to YouTube
Meet livestreaming is an option when the event is already being run as a meeting and the accounts meet Google’s eligibility conditions. Google lists certain Workspace editions and Google One subscribers with at least 2 TB of storage. The YouTube channel must be approved and connected to the meeting, and the person who starts the stream needs access to that channel. Check livestream eligibility and prepare the event
- Channel status: YouTube’s general livestream guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Age: YouTube says creators must be at least 16 to livestream.
- Feature availability: Go live together is described as available to eligible creators, but eligibility can vary. Check whether the option appears on the host channel before announcing the event.
- Advance checks for encoders: YouTube advises setting up at least two hours before an event and starting encoders at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Check the Live Control Room preview and monitor audio and video during the event.

Equipment: what a group stream actually needs
The native Go live together flow does not imply a hardware purchase. For an encoder-based production, equipment depends on the room, participant arrangement and production software. YouTube describes webcams, microphones, headphones, mixers and multiple cameras as possible parts of an encoder setup; they are not all required for every stream. A USB microphone can be a useful optional choice when producing several people in one room or otherwise using an encoder, but it is not a requirement for the mobile guest-link feature. Troubleshooting common problems
- Go live together is missing: The feature is for eligible creators, and not every feature-specific condition is established here. Check the host channel’s available options and confirm the channel meets YouTube’s general livestream requirements.
- The guest cannot join: Confirm the guest opened the invitation link on a mobile device, selected a YouTube channel and reached the waiting room. The host must add the guest after the join notification arrives.
- You need several guests on screen simultaneously: Go live together shows only one guest at a time. Switch to a production workflow that combines participants in one feed, or consider a Meet livestream if the account and channel qualify.
- The encoder broadcast is not ready at the start time: Follow YouTube’s advice to prepare at least two hours ahead, start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start, and check the Live Control Room preview.
- The Meet livestream option is unavailable: Check whether the subscription edition qualifies, whether the YouTube channel is approved and connected, and whether the person starting the stream has access to that channel.
