There is no current live stream to watch: Super Bowl LIX took place on February 9, 2025. The free 4K viewing route available at the time was Tubi, where viewers could watch the FOX or FOX Deportes presentation after signing in to a free account. A compatible 4K-capable device was required for the highest available picture quality.
The free 4K option was Tubi—but the event is over
Super Bowl LIX was played on Sunday, February 9, 2025. FOX’s free streaming route was Tubi, Fox Corporation’s ad-supported streaming service. Viewers could watch the FOX or FOX Deportes presentation without a traditional pay-TV subscription, but they had to sign in to a free Tubi account.
That live event stream is no longer available. The instructions below explain how the legitimate 2025 option worked and what the closest alternatives were for future FOX sports broadcasts.
How the free Tubi stream worked in 2025
- Open the Tubi app on a supported smart TV or streaming device, or visit Tubi in a supported web browser.
- Create a free Tubi account or sign in to an existing account.
- On February 9, open the Super Bowl LIX event stream from Tubi’s sports or featured programming area.
- Use a compatible 4K television and 4K-capable streaming device if you wanted the highest available picture quality.
A paid television package and credit card were not required for the Tubi presentation, but signing in was. “Free” therefore meant free access to the event stream after creating an account—not anonymous, account-free viewing.

What was included
FOX’s scheduled game coverage began at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Tubi also carried FOX’s pregame programming and a separate Tubi Red Carpet pre-show beginning at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The event coverage included both the English-language FOX feed and the Spanish-language FOX Deportes feed.
Did Tubi really deliver the Super Bowl in 4K?
FOX and contemporary coverage described the Tubi presentation as a live 4K stream on compatible devices. The careful interpretation is “4K delivery on supported hardware,” not a guarantee that every viewer received native 4K camera capture.
Some reporting characterized the digital presentation as upscaled 4K. That distinction matters: an upscaled broadcast can be delivered at a 4K output resolution while the original camera or production source has a lower resolution. It may still look sharper than a standard HD stream, but “4K” does not automatically mean that every image originated from a native 4K sensor.

Your actual result also depended on Tubi’s device support, the television’s capabilities, internet bandwidth, network congestion, and the stream profile assigned to your account and device. A 4K television by itself did not guarantee a 4K stream.

Hardware needed for the best available picture
The practical setup was a 4K-capable display paired with a streaming device that Tubi supported for the event. Examples of relevant device categories included a 4K smart TV, Apple TV 4K, a 4K-class Fire TV device, or a 4K-class Roku device. Compatibility should always be checked against the service’s current device list because support can vary by model, operating system, app version, and event.
If your television already had a supported Tubi app and could display 4K, you did not necessarily need an additional player. Conversely, buying a 4K television or streaming box would not have helped if the particular Tubi app, device model, or event feed did not support the required format.
If you are assembling a setup for future sports broadcasts, a 4K streaming device is the most relevant hardware category to compare after confirming that your television, HDMI connection, and streaming service support the desired format. Do not buy one with the expectation that it can restore access to the now-expired Super Bowl LIX stream.
What to do if Tubi was unavailable
Paid live-TV streaming services
Services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, and Fubo were identified as paid alternatives carrying local FOX broadcasts. They were not equivalent to Tubi’s free, non-pay-TV-authenticated event stream: they generally required a subscription, and FOX availability depended on the viewer’s local market and the service’s current channel lineup.

For a future FOX sporting event, check all of the following before subscribing:
- Whether the service carries your local FOX station;
- the current price and any applicable taxes or regional fees;
- whether a free trial is actually available to you;
- which device apps support the service; and
- whether the event is included in the local broadcast feed or subject to a separate blackout or distribution restriction.
A live TV streaming service with FOX can be useful for future live FOX sports, but it is not a way to watch the concluded 2025 game today. Local-channel coverage, pricing, trials, and terms change, so verify them directly before signing up.
Over-the-air antenna
An antenna was another legal way to receive the local FOX broadcast where reception was adequate. It was not an internet stream: the initial hardware purchase was the main cost, while picture quality depended on the local broadcast signal, antenna placement, terrain, buildings, and indoor interference. An antenna also did not provide Tubi’s separate app-based event presentation.

What not to use
Avoid websites advertising unauthorized Super Bowl mirrors, social-media restreams, “free” sports portals, or links claiming to bypass official distribution. They can disappear without warning, expose viewers to malicious advertising or deceptive downloads, and may infringe copyright. The legitimate free route for Super Bowl LIX was the official Tubi presentation, while FOX’s authorized distribution partners and local broadcast stations were the appropriate alternatives.
