To stream racing game replays continuously on YouTube, play the replay, capture its video in OBS, and send OBS’s feed to YouTube Live over RTMPS. Keep the game or replay source, streaming computer, encoder, and internet connection running; a live setup is not a guarantee of unattended, indefinite uptime. For a stream that should continue with your computer off, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud.
Choose a replay source
Start with your game’s replay playback feature, or use a saved replay video if the game lets you export one. The controls and export options vary by title, so check the game’s documentation rather than assuming a particular menu or shortcut.
- Confirm the replay can play without further gameplay input, or determine how you will restart it when it ends.
- Check that the game permits capturing and broadcasting the replay. Do not assume that permission to play a game includes permission to rebroadcast its music, licensed cars, commentary, or other third-party material.
- If the replay is on a console separate from your streaming computer, plan how to bring its video into the computer. That may require a compatible capture device; verify compatibility with both devices before buying one.
Capture the replay in OBS
OBS Studio can capture a PC game or a video input, stream to YouTube, and record locally. Its available capture methods depend on the source and operating system; see the OBS game capture documentation and OBS video capture documentation.
- Open OBS and create a scene for the replay.
- For a game running on the same PC, add a Game Capture source and select the appropriate game-capture mode. If it does not appear, check that the game is running and try a compatible capture method documented by OBS.
- For a separate console or other external video source, connect its output to a compatible capture device and add a Video Capture Device source. Select the device and check that the preview shows the replay.
- Add or verify audio capture. Play a section with representative engine sounds, music, and commentary, and check OBS’s audio meters. Avoid capturing unwanted desktop notifications or private audio.
- Arrange the scene at the intended aspect ratio and resolution. Make a short test recording or private/unlisted test stream before a long broadcast.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or configure the live stream. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers connecting an encoder.
- Copy the stream key from YouTube and enter it in OBS’s stream settings with YouTube as the service. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on stream or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube.
- Use YouTube’s recommended RTMPS ingestion where available. RTMPS is the secure extension of RTMP; select the server and protocol supported by your encoder configuration.
- Start with YouTube’s recommended settings for your chosen output resolution and frame rate. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video options, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR bitrate encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Its bitrate guidance varies by resolution and frame rate, so use the current table rather than copying a rate without checking your setup.
Choose a bitrate your internet connection can sustain while the replay is moving, not just while the screen is still. Leave upload capacity for normal network variation, then test with representative movement and audio. YouTube’s stream-health status and warnings can help identify problems before you commit to a long session.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep the stream running and monitor it
A continuous broadcast requires every link in the chain to keep working: the replay must keep playing, OBS must keep encoding, the computer must stay on, and the network must continue sending video. YouTube’s setup guidance explains configuration and stream-health monitoring; it does not guarantee that a particular replay will stay online indefinitely.
- Disable sleep or automatic shutdown on the streaming computer for the planned broadcast, and make sure cooling and power are adequate.
- Check the replay’s duration and whether it stops at the end. If it does, arrange a reliable way to restart it or choose a source that can loop under the game’s permitted functionality.
- Monitor YouTube stream health and OBS for dropped frames, connection interruptions, or encoding overload. Have someone available to respond, or a recovery plan, for a long unattended broadcast.
- Do not treat a connected encoder as proof the audience can see a healthy stream; check the live preview and audio as well.
Record a local backup if needed
OBS can record while streaming. In OBS, choose a recording path with sufficient free space and confirm the recording starts before the long session. OBS recommends MKV as a recording format because an ungraceful stop is less likely to corrupt the entire recording; use OBS’s remuxing option afterward if you need a different format. See the OBS recording guide.

When to use RTMPS or HLS
For an ordinary racing replay stream, begin with YouTube’s standard RTMPS workflow unless your encoder or production needs call for another supported ingestion method. YouTube also documents HLS ingestion, which has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video in segments. The HLS requirements include TS segments of 1–4 seconds, HTTPS POST/PUT, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and no byte range. These are protocol-specific settings, not the usual starting point for a basic OBS setup; see YouTube’s HLS setup guidance.
HDR is optional
Use HDR only if the game/source and encoder genuinely support compatible HDR content and encoding. YouTube’s HDR live streaming guidance documents HEVC/H.265 for HDR. For a basic replay stream, standard dynamic range avoids adding HDR-specific configuration.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| OBS preview is black or the replay is missing | Wrong capture source or mode, or an unsupported external capture path | Confirm the game is open and the selected source targets it. For a console, confirm the capture device is detected and compatible, then check its input and connection. |
| YouTube reports poor stream health or the video buffers | Bitrate exceeds stable upload capacity, or the connection is fluctuating | Check YouTube’s stream-health warnings, test the connection under realistic conditions, and lower the bitrate in line with YouTube’s guidance for the selected resolution and frame rate. |
| Video stutters while audio continues | Encoding overload, dropped frames, or a source that is not playing smoothly | Check OBS statistics and stream health to distinguish rendering/encoding issues from network drops. Reduce output demands if necessary and test the replay locally. |
| Audio is absent or out of balance | Incorrect audio source, muted channel, or unsuitable levels | Check OBS audio meters and source settings, then make a short test recording and listen back before going live. |
| The stream stops when the replay ends | The game’s replay playback does not loop automatically | Check the title’s replay options or use an authorized saved video that can be looped by the playback workflow. Do not assume every game has a continuous replay mode. |
| The recording is unusable after a crash or power loss | The recording was interrupted before it could be finalized | Use MKV for local recording and verify the recording path and available storage before a long session. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want uploaded racing replay videos to loop on YouTube without leaving a PC on, StreamNeo runs the stream in the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos; it does not stream a live camera feed.
