To broadcast bhajans continuously, send an audio-and-video feed to YouTube Live using an encoder—or use a cloud service that loops uploaded recordings. Before you start, confirm your channel can livestream and that you have the rights for every recording and composition you plan to use.
What a YouTube Live playlist loop actually requires
A YouTube playlist can loop while someone watches it, but that is different from a creator broadcasting a live event. A livestream needs an incoming feed from an encoder or another supported live-stream workflow. YouTube describes encoder software and standalone hardware as options; OBS is among the software options surfaced in its help material. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance explains the distinction.
For a do-it-yourself broadcast, the encoder plays or assembles your bhajan audio and visuals, then sends the feed to the stream configured in YouTube Studio. It must remain connected and transmitting for the live broadcast to continue.
Check channel eligibility and permissions first
Enable livestreaming before the broadcast
YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable and check the feature well before your planned start. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.

Clear rights for the music and recordings
Do not assume a bhajan is free to use because it is devotional, traditional, widely circulated, or available online. A composition and a particular recording can involve different rights. YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for necessary rights, including music licensing rights. The terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This is YouTube’s contractual language, not a legal opinion about a particular song or territory. Read the YouTube livestream terms.
Keep permission records and confirm that they cover the particular recording and composition, live transmission, any archived version, and the territories where the content will be available. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party matches. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder image; continued use may lead to interruption or termination. Even licensed material can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. If you have a licence, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to its allowlist. Details are in YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.
Set up a continuous bhajan livestream with an encoder
1. Prepare the program and the equipment
Arrange the recordings and visuals in the order you want them broadcast. Make sure the files play correctly and that your rights cover their intended use. Choose encoder software on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder based on the feed you need, the connections available, how long it must run, and whether you can monitor it. YouTube does not say that a dedicated or expensive computer is required to begin.

2. Create the live event and connect the encoder

In YouTube Studio, set up the livestream and open its Live Control Room. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions to configure the event and connect the encoder using the stream details shown for that event.

Configure the encoder to send your prepared audio-and-video program to the event. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to transmit to your channel’s live event. If you need to replace a key, use the stream settings in YouTube Studio and update the encoder to match.

Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview to show the incoming feed. Check that the event is receiving the intended picture and sound before making it public or beginning the scheduled broadcast.

3. Test the signal and leave upload headroom
Run a test before the actual event. Listen for clipping, silence, or uneven levels; check that the visuals are correct; and confirm the connection remains stable. YouTube recommends that the total stream bitrate stay below the available upload bandwidth, with 20% headroom. For example, if the feed uses 10 Mbps, aim for at least 12.5 Mbps of available upload capacity rather than running at the connection’s limit. This is YouTube’s recommended margin, not a guarantee against network interruptions. Follow YouTube’s live-streaming tips and monitor the preview and stream health during the broadcast.
4. Keep the encoder running—and understand long-stream DVR limits
For a continuous broadcast, the encoder and its network connection must continue sending the feed. A computer going to sleep, the encoder closing, or the connection dropping can interrupt transmission; plan who or what will monitor the setup and how it will be restarted if needed. Keeping the live feed running and allowing viewers to rewind are separate issues: YouTube warns that DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for livestreams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise that viewers can rewind through the entire broadcast. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.

The stream does not appear in YouTube. Confirm livestreaming is enabled for the channel, the encoder is running, and it is using the current stream details from the correct YouTube Studio event. For first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours.

The preview is missing or unstable. Check the encoder’s connection and the available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends keeping total stream bitrate within available upload capacity and leaving 20% headroom. Test again and monitor stream health.

There is no sound, or levels are poor. Check the encoder’s selected audio source and listen to the Live Control Room preview before continuing. Confirm the source is playing and that its output is not muted or distorted.

YouTube shows a copyright warning or replaces the picture. A match may indicate third-party material. Stop and review the specific recording and composition permissions; if licensed, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting. Do not assume that a devotional or old song is automatically cleared.

The broadcast stops during a long event. Check whether the encoder, computer, or network connection stopped transmitting. For a cloud loop, check the service’s stream status and the YouTube event. DVR limits affect rewind access, not whether the encoder is still sending.
