Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo stream an esports tournament with multiple cameras, build one production that can select game and camera feeds, put the right picture and graphics on screen, and send a single, synchronized program feed to YouTube. For a small setup, OBS and USB cameras can be enough; HDMI switchers or network cameras are options as the event grows. Plan each view, designate one primary audio path, and rehearse the complete show before tournament day.
Plan the views before choosing equipment
Start with the audience’s needs and the game’s available feeds. A camera count alone does not determine the right setup: games differ in observer options, and player feeds may depend on event permissions.
- Game view: the game capture or in-game observer feed. Decide how the show will move between player perspectives if the game provides them.
- Casters and analysts: a camera for commentary, analysis, or interviews.
- Player or team cameras: use these where available and useful, with permission to show them.
- Venue view: a wide shot to establish the room and serve as a fallback if another source fails.
- Graphics: score, team names, match information, and other overlays your event needs.
- Remote feeds: include these only if your production can receive and monitor them reliably.
Give every source one clear job and an operator-friendly name, such as “game observer,” “casters,” or “team wide.” Prepare layouts that combine sources when useful, such as picture-in-picture for commentary over gameplay. The operator’s central question is what the audience needs to see next—not simply which camera is available.
Choose how cameras connect to the production
| Approach | Good fit | Main trade-off | How switching works |
|---|---|---|---|
| USB cameras with OBS | Small, desk-based, or lower-complexity productions | USB bandwidth and computer resources can constrain the number of simultaneous feeds. | Select sources and switch scenes in software; a hardware switcher is not required. |
| HDMI cameras with capture devices or a switcher | Events with multiple HDMI sources, dedicated operators, or a need for physical switching and monitoring | More hardware, cables, and setup to manage. | Switch with capture and production software, or use a hardware switcher such as the ATEM Mini Pro. Check the current model specifications against your cameras and planned formats; it is an example, not a universal requirement. OBSBOT’s manufacturer guide discusses this type of setup. |
| Network or NDI cameras with compatible production software or hardware | Productions with suitable local network infrastructure and a need for flexible camera placement | Network performance becomes part of the production’s reliability plan. | Carry feeds across the local network and switch them in compatible software or hardware; wired Ethernet can be a useful reliability choice where available. |
The comparison reflects practical guidance in the OBSBOT manufacturer guide, not an independent test of the listed approaches. Check that your computer, USB controller, capture devices, switcher, cameras, and software support the actual number and format of feeds you intend to use.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Build a switching plan the crew can follow
- Create the production scenes. In OBS, add each feed as a source and arrange the scenes you need: main game, casters, picture-in-picture, split-screen, and a safe wide shot as appropriate. Scene-based switching lets a small production work without a separate hardware switcher.
- Use preview before program. Where your software or switcher supports preview/program or multiview, check the next shot before putting it on air. vMix documents program output and multiview layouts; its available functions vary by edition, so confirm the required outputs in the current vMix documentation.
- Label sources and graphics clearly. Use names that tell the operator what is on the feed. Make sure team labels, score graphics, and camera layouts correspond to the match currently being played.
- Assign show roles if more than one person is working. Agree who calls the next shot and who operates the switcher or graphics. Staffing depends on the event; there is no single crew size for every tournament.
- Keep the fallback in reach. Have a wide shot or another known-good scene ready to cover a failed or unsuitable source. Rehearse getting to it without disrupting the program audio.
Try to match frame rates and, where practical, resolution and aspect ratio across sources. Keep exposure and white balance consistent between cameras so cuts do not produce abrupt brightness or color changes. These are practical setup recommendations in the OBSBOT guide; the right settings depend on the cameras and event format.
Make one audio path responsible for the program
Choose the main microphone or mixer output that should be heard in the broadcast. Do not automatically mix every camera microphone into the program: unwanted room sound, handling noise, or duplicate audio can make commentary difficult to understand.

Connect OBS or an encoder to YouTube
YouTube’s official encoder workflow uses the YouTube Live server URL and stream key in the encoder. Connect the audio and video hardware to your production software or encoder, then enter those YouTube connection details there. YouTube’s guide says: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” See YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Set up the channel and live access ahead of the event. YouTube notes that first-time live activation can take time, so confirm access before tournament day.
- In OBS or the encoder, configure the YouTube destination. Use the server URL and stream key provided for the YouTube stream. Treat the stream key as a credential: keep it out of public graphics, shared documents, and on-air screens.
- Send the finished program feed. Switching camera views and graphics is the production software or switcher’s job; YouTube receives the resulting program stream.
- Test the full route before opening the show. Verify that YouTube receives picture and sound and that the selected stream is the intended event destination.
The reviewed platform guidance does not establish one universal bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or computer specification for every tournament. Choose output settings based on the cameras, encoder, network, and YouTube’s current guidance for the stream, then test the exact configuration you plan to use. Do not assume that one setting suits every source or venue.

When SRT is part of the contribution path
If you use SRT to carry a feed between an encoder and receiver, OBS documents adding SRT as a media source or as a custom stream destination. Its documentation gives a default latency of 120 ms and advises setting latency in relation to network round-trip time, at least 2.5 times that time. This is a configuration recommendation in the OBS SRT guide, not a guarantee of performance on a particular network. Use the actual path’s conditions when configuring it.
Rehearse the complete show and diagnose problems
Run a private or unlisted test stream where supported. Check the same cameras, scenes, audio, graphics, network path, and encoder settings you intend to use live. A checklist is useful, but it is not a substitute for testing the actual rig.

| Symptom | What to check | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| A camera does not appear or drops out | Check its connection, capture device, source selection, and whether the computer or USB controller can handle the active feeds. | Reconnect or reselect the source, reduce competing active feeds if needed, and switch to the rehearsed fallback while investigating. |
| Switching feels slow or the wrong shot goes live | Check whether the operator has a clear source list and a usable preview/program or multiview view. | Use descriptive labels, simplify scene choices, and rehearse calls and transitions. |
| Audio is doubled, noisy, or from the wrong camera | Check the selected program microphone or mixer input and camera audio sources. | Disable irrelevant camera microphones, select the intended primary audio path, and listen to the program output. |
| Sound does not match the picture | Check synchronization on each active camera or capture path, including any remote or SRT feed. | Correct the affected source’s offset in the production setup and verify it again in the test stream. |
| Camera cuts look inconsistent | Compare frame rate, resolution, aspect ratio, exposure, and white balance across sources. | Align settings where the equipment allows, and adjust camera exposure and white balance before the event. |
| YouTube does not receive the intended feed | Check the selected destination, server URL, stream key, encoder connection, and channel live access. | Correct the destination details and test again before the tournament begins. |
| A source or transition fails during the show | Check whether the planned wide shot or other safe scene is available and whether the operator can select it quickly. | Move to the fallback, keep the program coherent, then troubleshoot off-air if possible. |
| An SRT feed has an unsuitable delay or instability | Compare configured latency with the network’s round-trip time and review the SRT path. | Adjust latency according to the OBS guidance and retest the specific route; the documented default is not a universal setting. |
Include every source, each planned transition, audio levels and sync, the outgoing YouTube ingest, and the fallback shot in the rehearsal. The right camera count, computer capability, network arrangement, and crew plan depend on the game, equipment, venue, and event permissions.
