You can keep an audiobook-style podcast archive playing on YouTube around the clock by sending a continuous video-and-audio feed to a YouTube livestream with an encoder. But do not rely on YouTube to save that entire 24/7 session: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Make a separate recording, confirm you have the rights for livestreaming, and decide whether listeners need one continuous feed or individual replayable episodes.
Plan the feed and the archive separately
A continuous livestream and a reliable episode archive are different things. The live feed gives listeners one ongoing place to tune in; separate, bounded videos make episodes easier to find and replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 session is therefore not a dependable archive by itself. YouTube’s livestream archiving guidance
Before going live, choose how you will preserve and publish the material independently. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording and checking that the file is growing. The platform guidance does not prescribe a split interval or storage design, so set those according to your episode lengths, available disk space, and how quickly you need replays online.
Choose a continuous feed or managed sessions
- One long session: straightforward for an uninterrupted listening channel, but it does not guarantee a complete YouTube replay. Keep an independent recording and plan separate replay uploads.
- Managed sessions or distinct broadcasts: useful if listeners need bounded, searchable events while a continuous feed remains live. YouTube’s Live API documents a 24/7 feed with a separate broadcast for an interview that is also part of that feed. This approach takes more workflow planning and may involve Studio or API management. YouTube Live API broadcast documentation
Confirm rights before streaming any episode
Do not assume that an episode available online, or permission to distribute it as a podcast, also gives you permission to livestream it on YouTube. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights and other royalty participants. - Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For an audiobook-style archive, check the rights for each relevant layer: the underlying book or script, the recording, the narrator’s performance, and any music or other included material. Confirm that the license covers the territories and livestream use you intend. If a right is limited by territory, term, platform, or format, do not treat it as broader than its written scope.
Set up the YouTube livestream
- Create the live event in YouTube Studio. Open the live-stream setup, create or schedule the stream, and obtain YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Keep the key private: it lets an encoder send video to your channel.
- Connect an encoder. In the encoder’s streaming settings, enter the server URL and stream key from YouTube. YouTube distinguishes the incoming stream feed from the viewer-facing broadcast, which matters if you use a continuous feed alongside separately managed broadcasts. YouTube encoder setup guidance
- Prepare a visual track. An audio-led archive still needs a video signal for a YouTube live feed. Use visuals you have rights to stream, such as an appropriate still or other permitted artwork, and ensure the encoder is actually sending audio as well as video.
- Test before leaving it unattended. Check the live preview and playback from a viewer’s perspective. Confirm the correct episode is playing, audio is audible, the image is stable, and your local recording is being written.
YouTube says creators do not need expensive equipment to get started. A computer and software encoder can be a lower-equipment-barrier option, but reliability then depends on that computer, its operating system, power, network, and software recovery behavior. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events; that is an optional category, not a stated requirement for an audio-led archive. Any encoder still needs YouTube’s server URL and stream key. YouTube encoder setup guidance

Give listeners control—and verify what it does
YouTube’s DVR setting lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume during a livestream. Enable it if those controls fit your listening experience, then test the actual stream before promising that listeners can navigate the feed like a podcast player. DVR is a live-stream control, not a substitute for publishing individual episodes as replayable videos. YouTube DVR guidance
Monitor the feed and preserve a usable replay
- Watch and listen to the live output regularly for interruptions, silence, distortion, or the wrong episode.
- Check that the local recording is still growing and that the recording destination has enough free space for the expected run.
- Plan how the recording becomes separate, replayable videos. The official guidance does not set a required split cadence or storage system.
- Decide in advance how you will respond to encoder, power, network, or YouTube interruptions. YouTube’s guidance advises monitoring quality and local archive integrity but does not prescribe a redundancy architecture.
Do not make promises about a complete YouTube replay of a 24/7 session. The platform says an over-12-hour stream may not be captured at all, so the independently monitored recording is the important recovery copy.

Understand copyright and monetization separately
Content ID can interrupt a live session
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party matches. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, and YouTube may warn you to stop streaming the material; if it remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A licensed creator may still need the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived livestreams can also receive Content ID claims after the stream ends. YouTube’s Content ID and live-stream guidance
Permission does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s monetization rules apply to livestreams. In a clarification dated July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and described monetizable material as original and authentic. Repetitive or mass-produced material, or reused material without meaningful additions, may not qualify. YouTube’s reused-content review is separate from copyright authorization: permission to use an episode does not by itself establish monetization eligibility. Channel review can consider the channel theme, viewed videos, watch time, metadata, and other material. Add clear original editorial value where appropriate, and assess eligibility against YouTube’s current policy. YouTube channel monetization policies
