You can loop a pre-recorded video on YouTube Live from an Indian VPS by creating a YouTube live event, copying its stream key securely to a software encoder on the server, and sending the video continuously to YouTube. Before choosing a small VPS, check whether the encoder can send the file without converting it, verify sustained outbound bandwidth and data-transfer charges, and test the stream: no Indian VPS plan or performance level is established here as suitable for every loop.
Before you start: confirm the channel can stream
- The channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live streaming can take up to 24 hours to become available, and YouTube’s current minimum age for live streaming is 16. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements before renting a server or scheduling a broadcast.
- Make sure you have the necessary rights to every part of the video, including music, footage, images, and any other third-party material. YouTube’s Terms of Service require creators to have rights to the content they stream. This is especially important for music-led loops and compilations.
- Decide whether you need a YouTube replay of the complete loop. YouTube may archive streams shorter than 12 hours; it warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the entire session matters, arrange a separate local recording.
Choose a VPS by the workload and full cost
A VPS can run the encoder continuously without keeping a home computer on, but the word “low-cost” does not tell you whether a plan can sustain your chosen stream. No specific Indian provider plan, checkout price, CPU size, or sustained performance was verified for this guide. Compare the complete monthly checkout total and the workload rather than relying on a headline server price.
- Outbound bandwidth and transfer: YouTube says the total stream bitrate cannot exceed the available upload bandwidth. It recommends 20% extra bandwidth headroom; also check the hosting provider’s transfer allowance and any overage charges.
- CPU and conversion: Sending an already-compatible file without re-encoding can take less compute than converting it, but the actual demand depends on the file, encoder settings, and server. Measure the intended workload before settling on a small instance. A commercial service’s comparison explains the copy-versus-transcode distinction, but it is not an independent VPS benchmark.
- Network and checkout details: Check whether IPv4 costs extra, what happens when the transfer allowance is exhausted, and whether the advertised price includes the needed network resources. Include these charges in the comparison.
- Maintenance: A self-managed VPS puts setup, monitoring, updates, and recovery in your hands. Account for the time and know-how required, not only the rental fee.
Set the YouTube encoder output
YouTube’s published encoder guidance specifies RTMP or RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Select the bitrate for the resolution and frame rate using YouTube’s current live encoder settings; the figures below are YouTube’s recommendations for H.264, not measurements of a particular VPS or requirements for every low-motion video.
| Output | YouTube H.264 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
For a modest pre-encoded loop, reducing output resolution or frame rate may lower transfer and encoding demands, at the cost of image detail or smoothness. Match the setting to the material and test it on the actual server and upload path. Do not assume that a static image or low-motion video makes the VPS network or encoder reliable by itself.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up and start the loop
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, confirm the channel’s live-streaming access is active. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement.
- Create a live event. In YouTube Studio, open Create and choose Go live, then create or schedule the stream. Use the event’s live control room to obtain the ingest server and stream key. YouTube may update interface labels, so follow the current controls shown in Studio.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password. Enter it only into the encoder’s private configuration. Do not expose it in screenshots, public scripts, shared configuration files, or logs. If it is disclosed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Place the media on the VPS. Upload the video to the server and check that it plays correctly. Confirm the disk has room for the file and any recording you plan to keep.
- Configure the encoder. Use the event’s RTMP or RTMPS ingest details, the appropriate video and audio inputs, CBR, and the two-second keyframe interval (never over four seconds). Choose the bitrate from YouTube’s current table for your resolution and frame rate. Decide whether to copy the source streams or convert them; conversion raises CPU demand and can change quality.
- Start with a preview test. Start the encoder and check the YouTube live preview before relying on the broadcast. Confirm that video and audio are present, the intended resolution is shown, and stream health is acceptable. Test for long enough to reveal sustained CPU or network problems.
- Keep it running and monitor it. A VPS can be interrupted, and YouTube recommends testing against the available upload bitrate and monitoring stream health. Check the provider’s restart and maintenance behavior and decide how you will notice and recover from a stopped encoder or dropped connection.
- Record separately if the full archive matters. For a session that may exceed 12 hours, use a local recording plan; YouTube warns that it may not capture a stream longer than that.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live event | Live streaming is not enabled, the channel has a restriction, or first-time activation is still processing. | Recheck eligibility in YouTube Studio, including verification and restrictions. If this is the first stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation. |
| YouTube receives no signal | Wrong event ingest details, incorrect or expired stream key, encoder not running, or VPS egress blocked. | Compare the encoder destination and key with the event in Studio, confirm the process is running, and check the provider’s outbound network rules. Keep the key private while correcting it. |
| Stream health is poor or the broadcast disconnects | The sustained upload path cannot support the bitrate, the provider has network interruptions, or the stream has insufficient headroom. | Test actual upload performance, follow YouTube’s recommendation to leave 20% additional bandwidth headroom, and lower the bitrate or output settings if needed. Check transfer limits separately. |
| Video stutters, drops frames, or the VPS CPU is saturated | The server is struggling to convert the source in real time. | Check encoder CPU use. If the source is compatible, test sending it without re-encoding; otherwise reduce conversion demands or choose a server only after measuring the actual workload. |
| The stream is live but has no usable audio or video | Incorrect input, unsupported source, or a mismatch between the file and encoder configuration. | Play the file on the VPS, verify the selected audio and video streams, and inspect the YouTube preview before leaving the loop unattended. |
| The YouTube replay is incomplete or absent | The session exceeded 12 hours, beyond the duration YouTube says may not be captured. | Keep a separate local recording when a complete archive is important. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If server administration is not the point of the project, StreamNeo is a managed YouTube service for looping uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The loop runs in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. StreamNeo says uploaded video streams as supplied up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encoding or quality tiers, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
There is no card required for the first free day (one free day per account). The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it does not broadcast a camera feed. For a YouTube loop without a VPS to maintain, start the free day with StreamNeo.
