How to Stream a Recorded Algebra Course on YouTube 24/7 from a Mac

Learn how to loop one algebra lesson or a playlist from OBS on a Mac, connect it to YouTube Live, test the broadcast, and plan around archive limits.

You can run a prerecorded algebra lesson as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast from a Mac by sending a looping video from OBS Studio to YouTube’s Live Control Room. First confirm the channel can livestream; then configure OBS, test the picture, sound, and connection, and keep the Mac awake and online for the broadcast. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but does not promise a complete replay of a 24-hour stream.

Before you start: check YouTube eligibility and prepare the lesson

YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction during the previous 90 days. The current eligibility guidance also says streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it and confirm access before your planned start time. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.

  • Have the lesson video or videos available as local files on the Mac.
  • Broadcast only lesson video and audio you have the rights to use. Confirm current YouTube rules for your circumstances rather than assuming that owning a recording automatically permits a public livestream.
  • Install OBS Studio. If you want a playlist of multiple local files, install VLC as well; OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to appear.
  • Choose lesson material suited to repeating. A single lesson will begin again when it reaches the end; a playlist can cycle through several files.

Create the YouTube encoder stream

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder workflow. YouTube explains that an encoder converts video into a digital format for streaming.
  2. In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send content to your stream. Do not expose it in a recording, lesson, screenshot, or public document.
  3. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key; if configuring a custom server, enter the stream URL as well. Keep the key out of shared scenes and notes.
  4. When ready, start streaming in OBS. For a scheduled stream, check Live Control Room for the encoder preview and click Go live if prompted. To end the broadcast, end it in Live Control Room and stop sending content from OBS. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current Studio interface.

Set up OBS to loop one lesson or a course playlist

Loop one video

  1. In OBS, create a scene for the course broadcast.
  2. In the Sources panel, click + and add a Media Source. Name it, then browse to the local lesson video.
  3. Enable the source’s Loop property so playback restarts when the file ends. OBS documents this behavior on its Media Sources page.
  4. Arrange and size the source in the canvas. Start playback in OBS and verify that the video fills the intended area without cropping important writing.

Loop several videos

  1. In Sources, click + and add a VLC Video Source. If that source is missing, install VLC and restart OBS.
  2. Add the lesson files in the desired order to the source’s playlist.
  3. Enable Loop Playlist so OBS repeats the playlist after the last file.
  4. Test transitions between files. Check that the next lesson starts as expected and that audio does not abruptly disappear or overlap.

OBS lists these source options as available on macOS. See its source setup guidance for current property descriptions.

Make equations readable and audio audible

There is no single YouTube or OBS layout prescribed for algebra lessons. Judge the result at the size students are likely to use: open the stream preview or a test broadcast on a phone and check that symbols, exponents, fractions, and written steps remain legible at normal playback size. If viewers must zoom or guess at a minus sign, rework the video framing before the long run.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Use a video canvas and source size that preserve the lesson’s aspect ratio and keep working area visible.
  • Watch OBS’s audio meters while the lesson plays, then listen to the actual output. Meter movement alone does not establish that speech is clear or that unwanted computer audio is absent.
  • Check a section with the quietest speech and the loudest sound, not just the opening seconds.

These are practical lesson-quality checks, not platform-mandated algebra settings. OBS’s setup guidance and YouTube’s general testing recommendations support checking the configured stream before relying on it.

Test the stream before leaving it running

  1. Run a short private or otherwise appropriate test broadcast before the intended 24/7 run. OBS recommends testing for a few minutes before a first real stream.
  2. Check that the lesson appears in YouTube’s Live Control Room preview and that scheduled streams have been taken live when required.
  3. Test upload capacity and select a stream quality that suits the available connection. YouTube recommends using RTMPS and monitoring stream-health messages; consult its live encoder settings and recommendations for current settings guidance.
  4. Watch the video and listen from the viewer side. Confirm the picture stays stable, text is readable, audio is present, and OBS advances or loops the lesson as configured.
  5. Correct any stream-health warnings before starting the long broadcast. A successful short test is useful but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation for a full day.

Keep the Mac and local setup available

With OBS encoding locally, the Mac must stay awake, OBS must remain open, lesson files must remain accessible, and the internet connection must continue carrying the feed. Adjust the Mac’s sleep settings for the duration, connect power, and avoid closing the lid if that would interrupt your setup. These measures reduce avoidable interruptions; they do not guarantee continuous uptime. YouTube’s encoder workflow depends on the encoder continuing to send the feed.

Plan for the replay limitation

YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not promise a complete automatic archive for a 24-hour broadcast. If students need replay access to every lesson, consider shorter broadcasts or make a separate local recording, then verify what appears in YouTube Studio after the stream. Do not plan on a single uninterrupted 24-hour livestream becoming one complete replay.
